Re: BASIC SET UP
I would review the installation guide to see how to setup and connect the router:
https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RAX120/RAX120_QSG_EN.pdf
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the NightHawk RAX WiFi 6 Router products.:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Routers-with-WiFi-6-AX/bd-p/en-home-routers-nighthawk-wif...
Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you.

Re: BASIC SET UP
From what i can work our i need a modem for some reason there isn't one built in which to my surprise no one says or on the box
I have a VDSL / DSl connection which by my guess is about 80% in UK and i'm not the only one with this problem
so basically bit of a waste of money
supposedly one of the best routers out and i need a £24 modem to make it work pretty **bleep** !

Sure is, but you need the right equipment and settings.
Is this the same issue as the one you posted here?
nighthawk why - NETGEAR Communities
The details there are a bit different. So there doesn't seem to be much point in dealing with this conversation.

The "reason" is that you bought a router. This is not the same thing as a modem/router.
You can't expect boxes to say what they don't include.
Your ISP almost certainly explains what you need. It might even offer to sell you the hardware. Most do, albeit at a price.
