CM1200 set up
We're with Spectrum, and have the 100 MB plan. We were advised to "go big or go home" so got the highest capabilty combo, since Spectrum is advancing options. Thus, the hefty price tag for the CM1200 and the 3-pack wireless router.
After 1 1/2 hours with Spectrum's tech support, the Netgear equipment is back in the boxes. We had switched from Spectrum's Arris router/modem combo to the CM1200; it appeared on Spectrum's system as working. We tried adding the router/satellite, but no amount of configuring produced a signal. Spectrum was great and reversed all the changes.
We have a landline for business; Spectrum configured its Arris to handle only that. 2 desktop PCs, on different floors, are hardwired and do not support wireless signal.
The router was (obviously) connected to the modem and PC; placed a satellite one floor down with the 2nd PC. Connected it with a LAN cable to do a backhaul, but that left no way to connect the PC to the modem.
So, did we get the wrong gear for our application, or are we missing something with the install? Do we need additional gear to connect the PCs AND get the stronger wireless signal we need?

Re: CM1200 set up
The CM1200 on spectrum only supports using port 1. It does support using port 2 if using wan port aggreation (not sure if your router supports that as you didn't put a model). It also will support using ports 2-4 if your on a business line or pay for extra IP addresses. Most don't. Its something ISP's do a bad job of informing consumers of.
If they have the Arris "configured" to run your phone line and pc's, then its whats activated to your account. Not the cm1200. You can't have 2 modems active on an account through spectrum.
If you're needing a phone line, the cm1200 isn't the modem you'd want to be using.

Re: CM1200 set up
Guru, thanks for the reply. The router is part of the MK63 mesh system. (AX1800). Spectrum configured its modem to handle only the phone line, via a splitter. It worked right away.
The issue we have now is: once the router itself is connected to the modem and main PC, do we just sync the satellites and place them where needed? Though both have ethernet ports, we don't know if additional cables need to be run to them.
On the other hand, do we just have the Spectrum tech look for weakness in the wifi, return the Netgear and pick up boosters?
Yup, wifi for Dummies.

Maybe i'm wrong on this point since I dont' have spectrum.
The issue we have now is: once the router itself is connected to the modem and main PC, do we just sync the satellites and place them where needed? With that mesh system, you do. Make sure they're at least 30ft apart for best roaming. Though both have ethernet ports, we don't know if additional cables need to be run to them. ---You don't need additional wires. Its designed to run over the wireless. If you do happen to hardwire them in, they'll tend to be faster than over wireless.
On the other hand, do we just have the Spectrum tech look for weakness in the wifi, return the Netgear and pick up boosters?---I can't tell you what to do. The MK63 is a base model mesh system. it still works pretty darned good and provides good coverage. If you're a gamer or do a lot of streaming on mulitple devices, then I'd recommend a triband mesh system.

Re: CM1200 set up
Thanks for that, but right now it's a moot issue - the gear was returned. Spectrum replaced the Arris and the need for a mesh system was overkill on our part.
