Creating a mesh network with my existing R8000P

I bought a R8000P a year or two ago. It works great, but gets weak in my office due to having many walks and a floor to go through. I want to create a true mesh network, not just by extenders and lose strength. What are my options? Will the X45 or X65 work, or are they just extenders/repeaters? I really don't feel like spending the extra for an orbi system

Just Repeaters or Extenders. The R8000P doesn't support MESH features. MK or Orbi systems do.

That blows. I was hoping that since it's triband it was capable. Well, I guess I'll just start saving. Thanks for the help

Re: Creating a mesh network with my existing R8000P

If you only need 1, the tribands don't loose that much speed because of their dedicated backhauls.

If you're needing more than 1, its better to just go with the orbi/mk route.

The tribands are: EX7500, EX7700, EX8000.

the RBS50y and RBS40V also have an extender mode.

But you might also check into renewed orbi systems. The older AC systems have been pretty cheap and not that much more than buying a new extender.

Re: Creating a mesh network with my existing R8000P

Hmm. I currently have a (isp provided) AC1900 with a R8000 as a WAP. They are configured to different WiFi channels with sequential network names (Xxx5G-1 for the AC1900 and Xxx5G-2 for the R8000). Should I have that on the same channel? Do mesh network waps run on the same channel with same network name? I have an extender on one side of the house and the R8000 on the other side, feeding the back yard TV. Not completely satisfied with the extender or the wap r8000. Thoughts?

@DaHoff135 I'd recommend starting your own thread versus jumping on someone else's.
