Missing 5GHz channel

I can no longer see one of my 5GHz channel (not sure if "channel" is the correct terminology). When I initially set it up I had two 2.4GHz and two 5GHz channels, now I only have two 2.4GHz and one 5GHz channels.

Re: Missing 5GHz channel

Which router model?

The tagged C7000 has only one radio on each band.

Re: Missing 5GHz channel

R7000 has also just one radio on each band, one 2.4. one 5 GHz. Could the lost one be a Guest network?

Re: Missing 5GHz channel

Yes, one is primary and one is guest. However, I figured out the issue. There is a feature on the primary network that links the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and the router determines which band the conected device should go to. Unchecking that box showed both band on my primary network. The guest SSID does not have that feature.

Thanks for looking into things for me. Perhaps you can post an intelegent comment about what I discovered so it will make sense to others.

Re: Missing 5GHz channel

It doesn't help that your messages say you have the C7000. (That's a modem/router.)

The R7000 router, a different animal, has "smart connect".

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

and feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the bit in the manual "Enable or Disable Smart Connect".
