Netgear Nighthawk 1750 choking/blocking speed
Hi,
I have Comcast/xfinity plan of 800 Mbps. I use a nighthawk CM 2000 modem which shows speeds of >750 Mbps when directly connected via ethernet to my laptop.
However. when using wifi using the AC1750 / R6700 router, the speeds drop to only 80 mbps using the 2.4 Ghq spectrum, and to 140 Mbps when using the 5Ghz. My router is out of warranty/support and I used the nighthawk app to check for firmware updates but don't see any.
What can I do to not have the router block the speed.

Youll not see anything near 800Mpbs on 5GHz wireless speeds with this router. This router is not capable.

Re: Netgear Nighthawk 1750 choking/blocking speed
80mbps is about right (actually high) for the 2.4ghz. its a slow network.
While you won't get close to 800mbps out of the 5ghz, you should be able to get faster than what you're hitting.
Try factory resetting the r6700 and then reinstall it (not from a backup). Make sure to leave qos, access control, traffic monitoring, and parental controls all disabled.
You can also try changing the wireless channel you're on.
what firmware are you on?
what device are you testing on?
what app/site are you using for speedtesting?
