Nighthawk 6700v3 with OpenVPN and Google WIFI
Hello,
I've had the Google WIFI mesh system for some time and am very happy with it. Downside is that they don't support VPN. I've added a R6700v3 in front of the Google WIFI system, so it goes Modem -> R6700v3 -> Google WIFI. Everything works as expected but when trying VPN, I cannot see any devices attached to Google WIFI.
The R6700v3 is using the standard 192.168.1.1 address. The Google system uses 192.168.86.1. Again, VPN connection with OpenVPN works perfectly fine, connects but I cannot see anything on the Google subnet.
I've tried various strings in the OpenVPN config file such as:
route-gateway 192.168.86.1
route 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 192.168.86.1
Nothing I have tried will allow me to get to the Google subnet. I've tried modifying the Google subnet to 192.168.1.2, but the saved changes don't actually save. DHCP is off on the R6700v3, including WIFI, as I'm only trying to use it as a VPN into my network.
I'm figuring this has to be something simple I'm overlooking. Everything I have searched on the web indicates that I should be able to reach the Google subnet, yet I am not.
Any ideas?

Re: Nighthawk 6700v3 with OpenVPN and Google WIFI
Hi @mjacobs731, welcome to the community! You'll only be able to see the devices within the subnet of the R6700v3. You can try enabling the DHCP of the R6700v3 and setup the Google router in AP mode. See if that works.
