Nighthawk x6 R8000

No internet connection although all lights are on (white lights).  Netgear is receiving power, but Netgear not showing up as as available devices

in my network and not connecting to internet.  Have done restarts;  all this happened after a storm.   Any suggestions?

What is the brand name and model number of the modem/ONT that is connected between your R8000 and the internet?

Are there any indicators on the modem to show whether internet access is available?

Have you done a sequential restart of your local network since the storm?

I assume there was a power outage and possibly the modem/ONT and router did not start back up in the proper order.

Re: Nighthawk x6 R8000

Thanks for your questions.

The internet company provided a Zyxel router and up to now it had worked great with the Netgear x6 R8000.

Yes, repeated the sequential restart several times after the storm.

Yes the Zyxel shows that internet is available and I verified with the provider that it was working properly.

The only thing I can think of is that the Netgear is several years old (and out of warranty) and might need to be replaced.  It has been a good product up to now.

Any other suggestions?

Is there a model number for your Zyxel router?

Need to make sure we are on the same page for the term sequential restart.

Power cycling your local area network (LAN) is important, but it is equally important to do so in the proper sequence with ample time between devices.

Pull the power cord on your modem and disconnect the Ethernet cord.

Pull the power cord on your router and disconnect the Ethernet cord.

Plug in the cord to power up the modem and give it ample time (a few minutes) to boot and connect to your internet service provider (ISP).  One of the last indicators to illuminate will be the one that shows internet connection.

Connect your Ethernet cord from the output of the modem to the WAN input on your router.

Plug in the cord and push the on button to power up the router and give it ample time (a few minutes) to boot and connect to the internet.  One of the last indicators to illuminate will be the one that shows internet connection.

Did the internet indicator on your router light up as white?  If yes, check for internet access from devices connected to your router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.

Before you dump your router, recommend a firmware default (factory) reset.  With the router powered on, you will need to push and hold the recessed reset button on the back of the device.  When the indicator LEDs start to flash, release the reset button and let the boot sequence complete.

Once this is done, you will need to do a full configuration of the router from scratch.  Recommend you do not import a backup configuration file.

Re: Nighthawk x6 R8000

The Zyxel model # is EMG6726-B10A.

Thanks for your detailed instructions on the restart.  I will give this a try.

This is exactly why I asked for the model number.  As near as I can tell your EMG6726-B10A is a combination Wi-Fi router.  When you connect your R8000 downstream, you have a double NAT configuration.  Lots of problems with that situation.  See here:  https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-double-NAT-and-why-is-it-bad

Why are you connecting your R8000 Wi-Fi router downstream from your Zyxel Wi-Fi router?

Have you tried to configure your R8000 as an access point?

What device, brand and model number, is upstream that provides internet to your Zyxel EMG6726-B10A?

Re: Nighthawk x6 R8000

I have not tried to configure as Access Point, but have done everything else I can think of.  It wasn't an access point before the storm, so not sure why it isn't working now.  Thanks for your help.  I'm closing this request at this time.
