R6400v2 poor internet after firmware 1.0.4.118 installed
Thunderbird could not connect to server.
SplashTop said no internet.
TomTom MyDrive Connect said no internet.
Chrome would say website unavailable and then later connect.
I went back to previous firmware and all problems have gone away.

Re: R6400v2 poor internet after firmware 1.0.4.118 installed
I had the same problem, and it definitely caused some issues with my marriage!
My wife's computer would error-out until I rebooted the router, but only to see the problem return hours later.
The problem is with the router's DNS server sometimes failing, and when it does, the router's DHCP service fails to assign the DHCP client a DHCP server. Even when the DNS server starts working again, DHCP continues to neglect telling my DHCP clients what DHCP server to use. When I run ipconfig /all on a client who has obtained a new DHCP lease, the primary DNS server field will be missing.
The simple fix, in the interim, is to go into your client settings and not even rely on the router's DHCP-DNS lease option. Instead, manually configure DNS to point at either your ISP's DNS server IP Address, or in my case, 8.8.8.8 (Google's public DNS service).
Hopefully Netgear fixes the problem soon.

Re: R6400v2 poor internet after firmware 1.0.4.118 installed
I noticed an error in my last post.
This sentence:
the router's DHCP service fails to assign the DHCP client a DHCP server.
Should be changed to:
the router's DHCP service fails to tell my DHCP client what DNS server to use (which I believe is DHCP option 6).
