You may need to do a reset after the roll back.

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
I installed the update R6700v3-V1.0.4.118_10.0.90 (also the newer R6700v3-V1.0.4.120_10.0.91) and immediately began having connection issues. I rebooted my modem and router ad still problems. All my family's devices on both WAN and LAN had this problem. YouTube videos can have problems loading, email can have problems, some games like Steam games may not load at all. Logging into Netgear required I reload the page 2-3 times.
I installed the previous version of firmware R6700v3-V1.0.4.106_10.0.80 and the problem went away. One of my kids has a minecraft server and his friends have problems connecting with the old firmware so he reinstalled the latest version. His friends no longer have a problem connecting but now we do on our netwok.
I sent Netgear support an email explaining that their newest firmware versions had bugs in them. What I got was a trouble ticket and told tol contact Support. Which I did.
Steps I've taken:
1. Rebooted the modem and router 3-4 times
2. Contacted tech support and was told I had to pay for support which I don't know why when my router worked great for everything except the Minecraft server before the recent updates.
3. I reset the router to factory defaults then redid all the settings. Tthe setup wizard had problems connecting to my account during setup. It had to try multiple times.
4. I received an email from the support tech I spoke with and he suggested a variety of things but began with I should try power cycling my network devices and installing the latest firmware. I already had to no avail.
Would you please fix the bug in the latest firmware?

this is the community support forum where members of the public help out. We're not netgear. Sometimes a moderator is on here but its a bit rare. But even the mod's can't fix it. It'd have to go to the engineering team

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
others have stated that the 1.0.4.120 FW does not fix the DNS issue. The next release should. Enginneering does have the fix. Cant answer about other issues, as i have only worked on the DNS.

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
I found an "almost" fix!
Last night I changed the router's MTU from 1500 down to 1470 and it works much better now. Below is where to change the setting
- RouterConsole : Advanced : Setup : WAN Setup : MTU Size (in bytes) - the number to change is on the right
My internet is almost back to normal now but still has problems at times (getting into the Netgear Community is the worst) but I can log into accounts on the first try, my kids Steam games load now, and my internet speed is at 110%. Netgear still needs a fix though.
Here's a video that explains how to find the optimal MTU setting for your computer. I pinged www.google.com instead of techrepublic. Once I found my optimal MTU size I changed it in my router. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/how-to-optimize-the-mtu-setting-on-your-router-for-better-...

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
I have the 6700v3 Nighthawk AC1750 WiFi router. Before updating the firmware several days ago from V1.0.4.106_10.0.80 to V1.0.4.120_10.0.91 (I skipped over V1.0.4.118_10.0.90) I had no problems with the router or my computer. Since I updated the router I have been frequently getting the "Hmmm...can't reach this page message" and often pictures on web pages don't load.
I have tried:
1. Turning off all power to the router and modem.
2. Deleting all browser history and cookies on my computer.
3. Restarting my computer.
4. Flushing the dns using the cmd>ipconfig /flushdns command.
QUESTION: Is it really true that the router firmware can be downgraded to an older version? I have always been under the impression, perhaps erroneously, that the firmware could only be upgraded to newer versions.

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
Further to my post #37 above I did the following additional tests:
1. Changed the WiFi frequency from 5.0 Ghz to 2.5 Ghz. Problem persisted.
2. Connected the computer to the router with an ethernet cable. Problem persisted.
3. Connected the computer directly to the modem. The problems were no longer present.
The firmware upgrade to V1.0.4.120_10.0.91 is definitely the source of the problem.
Netgear please fix this.

Yes you can go backwards, go to 118 and this should work better.

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
Smackmick - Thanks for confirming that router firmware can be downgraded to an older version.
Can a firmware downgrade be achieved by simply pressing the router reset button or will I have to download the older firmware from the Netgear website?

Yes. You would have to download the older firmware and then upload it to your router

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
robjak and smackmick - Thanks for confirming that in order to install router firmware that is older than what is currently installed I will need to download the older firmware from Netgear's website to my computer and then upload it to the router.
I found the Netgear page with firmware downloads for R6700v3 that go all the back to version 1.0.2.52 here: Nighthawk R6700v3 | AC1750 Smart WiFi Router | NETGEAR Support

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
I downloaded from Netgear's website the zip file/folder for firmware version V1.0.4.106_10.0.80. I opened the folder with Windows File Explorer by right-clicking it and there were two files inside, an html file and a .chk file. I moved both files to a new folder.
Windows File Explorer says that the .chk file type is "Recovered File Fragments."
Question: Does that file type description indicate that there is something wrong with the file?

Did you actually extract the file?
When you right clicked on it, you went to extract all?

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
@robjak Dont worry about that.
Thanks for confirming that Netgear's .cfg file is O. K. to use even though Windows File Explorer designates it as a "Recovered File Fragments" file.

"Did you actually extract the file?

Yes, I used Windows File Explorer - Right clicked the zip file and clicked on "Extract All" which revealed two files: R6700v3-V1.0.4.106_10.0.80.chk and R6700v3-V1.0.4.106_10.0.80_Release_Notes.

Re: R6700v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
Success! I have apparently successfully uninstalled firmware version V1.0.4.120_10.0.91 and reinstalled firmware version V1.0.4.106_10.0.80 which is the firmware that was on the router when I bought it and which never gave me any problems. During a day of using the router and computer the problems that I was experiencing immediately after the installation of V1.04.120_10.0.91 are gone.
Thanks to everyone here for their help.

Re: R6400v3 firmware 1.0.4.118 caused connection problems
Had same issue (DNS error eveytime first time a new site is open) with latest update to 1.0.4.120. I thought DNS error was from ISP, then remove this router and directly connect my PC to Load Balancer and found no problem.
Today I found that 172.16.27.1 is unreachable from my pc, ip 172.16.1.13/24 and Router's WAN ip is 192.168.0.2/24 and traceroute was looping. Then I downgraded the Firmware to 1.0.4.106 and problem resolved.
