R7300 Genie PW Recover

In trying to get the 5Gz working again, we reset the router. When doing this we opted for the set up process to walk us through which recommeneded the Genie set up. Genie set up asked for a pw which I wrote done AND printed. It also asked for security questions I am guessing to recover. However, in trying to now make changes in Netgear Genie, it asks for my log in and pw. The user name stayed as admin, but when enter the default "password" or my new chosen password, neither works? What do I do? Reboot yet again?
