I have an R8000 that seems bricked, hoping someone has insight to help.
R8000 unit:
Has white lights for everything except the Internet
Won't broadcast SSID for either 2.4 or 5Ghz channels
Won't allow me to login when hardwired via 192.168.1.1
Won't allow me to login when hardwired to www.routerlogin.net or .com
(When I say won't allow login, I mean I get an error saying "The page cannot be reached". There is no option to enter username or password)
I have tried:
Toggling the WiFi On/Off button
Power Cycle
Reset button 10 seconds
Reset button 30 seconds
Reset button during power cycle
Looping ethernet from Internet port to LAN ports 1 through 4 and power cycling. No change in Internet light.
I'm using OS X 10.11 and Chrome for a web browser.
I have a Netgear WNDR4500 that I plugged in and worked fine immediately. Allows log in through wi-fi or hardwire.
Any ideas on next steps to salvage the R8000?

If you have tried looping and didn't get any light then it's considered a faulty router.

Re: R8000 - Won't broadcast SSID & won't allow login when hardwired
It appears to be your router is faulty.
If you're within hardware warranty, I suggest that you contact support to get a replacement.
Is my NETGEAR product under warranty?

Re: R8000 - Won't broadcast SSID & won't allow login when hardwired
It's my father-in-laws, and he didn't keep the reciept.
Dug his own ditch there, but you'd still expect better for the price of the hardware.
If I don't have proof of reciept or an actual purchase date I'm assuming there's no hope for a replacement unit. Some punk in a big box store convinced him he needed the latest and greatest, when my FIL would have been fine with a baseline unit. The latest and greatest failing is just salt in the wound.
