I currently have 200 Mbps speed with my cable provider.
If i connect from modem, directly to my laptop via gigabit ethernet, I get speedtest results above the 200 Mbps speed.
I understand that my wireless speeds will never be as fast as wired (wireless tests are giving results under 100 Mbps) but, even connecting via wire to router only gives speeds of about 110 Mbps.
Am I missing something in my router settings?

Welcome to the community, @mikegoldnj
Do you have the latest firmware installed on the router?
What is your connection type? IPv4 or IPv6?
If you do not have the latest firmware yet, kindly install it and then do a factory reset on the router.

Re: R8500 slow download speeds
I don't remember which connection but I think it is IPv4. But IPv6 is also enabled.

Re: R8500 slow download speeds
I am having the same issue....Direct connection to cable modem gives me 237 mps, coneected thru router 94 mps.
Firmware ver. 1.02.80_1.0.71
Have rebooted both the router and the modem. No change in speed
Even with modem - g-gigabit switch-computer, speeds 235+. Problem definetly in the 8500
Any ideas?

Re: R8500 slow download speeds
You seem to be confused.
I have an internet connection, but it is slowed down by the router. By over 50%. Changing the MAC address caused me to LOSE the internet connection completly.
It appears I need to revert to an older version of firmware, looking at the MANY other posts regarding this issue with this router
Maybe I should just revery back to my Belkin router......never had an issue with their stuff

Re: R8500 slow download speeds
I do understand that you have Internet access.
The step provided is to test the modem letting it to think that the computer is directly connected to it.
You mentioned that when you directly connected the computer to the modem you get 200Mbps.
So doing MAC Cloning is the same thing as direct connection to the modem.
Since it slowed down, try to power cycle by turning off the modem, router and computer then turn it back on in the same order.

Re: R8500 slow download speeds
Ok, that failed also.
Wired speeds are still identical to wireless speeds. 94/10
Back to factory reset, latest firmware, same issue
