I have my R9000 up and running.
Powerful Router.
Blasts the entire house ~2000sq 2flrs with fast AC.
I was running Plex on a VM host in my basement.
Plex in Router is great and very responsive, but horribly out of date.
v1.1 i think and current is v1.3
Plex says Netgear is responsible for updates.
Netgear support doesnt know.
The option to manually update is removed.
Plus the server kind of goes unresponsive every now and then and jsut doesnt show up.
Maybe a version bug.
In any event is anyone aware of a method to update the Plex version?
Is anyone aware of a method by which the server can be reboot through CLI when otherwise unresponsive?
I will probably return it if I cannot get these little things solved.
At least in VM i had control of the Server.
Thanks

The Plex team is very progressive and pumps out a lot of updates.
I have been a Netgear user for a logn time and am familiar with the firmware cycle.
It is unfortunate that the edition of Plex on this router will be delayed by the firmware editions of the router itself.
I will be returning this router promptly.
Thanks for your assistance.
It is very appreciated.

Re: R9000 X10 Plex Server Version & Updates
On the Plex website.
I have a Plex standalone VM running as well as the new one in the X10 I am want to get up to speed.
Even if I dont use my PlexPass account which provides the latest version, the free version is still at 1.2.7.
Everynow and then there is a security concern that prompts Plex to push out an update right away.
Sometimes 4 or 5 a month.
I dont want to be waiting 6 months between updates.

Re: R9000 X10 Plex Server Version & Updates
The Plex server needed an updated firmware version on the router.
As a result, our engineers will be releasing the updated firmware soon.

Re: R9000 X10 Plex Server Version & Updates
Elaine - please confirm if you can.
for r9000 the latest firmware ver is...1.0.1.36
with that firmware comes plex server 1.0.3.2461-35f0caa from July 28, 2016
below that id -a new server version says it is availible in the Plex page of the router web page.
1.3.3.3148-b38628e Dec 15,2015
however there seems to be no way to install it.
Can you provide the installation method or confirm that there is nothing to be done until netgear provides the next router firmware update?
regards
dave

the new Plex version is supposed to auto install...did you check the 'autoinstall' option?

Re: R9000 X10 Plex Server Version & Updates
Yes it is checked.=20
And I tried resetting and cold boot.
In all cases it starts our saying that the Jul ver. Is current and no updates available then it connects to Netgear and changes to "update available" and lists the Dec 15 ver. But no auto update happens. Also per my last note you can see that my 9000 firmware is current and thus no manual update is offered for the entire router.
Anyway to force an update using a selected file?

Re: R9000 X10 Plex Server Version & Updates
Solution!
Turn off "AUTO Update" in plex page and "Apply" now you will get an option to select and manually install Dec 15 ver.
