I connected my External WD Passport 4TB HDD to usb 3.0. It is never getting discovered in network. What am i doing wrong?
WD passport model ---wdbyft0040bwt-0a
Netgear Version - V1.0.0.54_1.0.17

Thank you everyone. I was able to ersolve issue. I formatted to NTFS and it worked.

I tried with compatible HDD too. Dosent work. Only Pendrives works.

I tried with 2TB which is on the list and fully compatible. That also didnt worked.
Format of all the HDD's ExFat.

That may well be the source of the problem. None of the manuals in my library suggests that ReadyShare supports ExFAT.
It mostly offers "the following file system types for full read/write access":
- FAT16
- FAT32
- NTFS
- NTFS with compression format enabled
- Ext2
- Ext3
- Ext4
- HFS
- HFS
Why did you go for exFAT? Won't NTFS work?

I went for exfat because i wanted HDD to be read both in MAC and Windows. I can try reformatting one of the HDD to NTFS and try

Thank you Micheal. Yes after through several articles and purchasing few softwares , I was fed up and finally formatted to exfat. Any way altogether that a different issue. I wil ltry formatting HDD to NTFS and let you know the results. Appreciate your help
