Wi-Fi connection lost with security Firmware V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 patch on R7000

After installing V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 on my R7000 router, I lose WI-Fi connctivity on both the 5 and 2.4 Mhz bands. The hardware Eithernet connections stay active, and otherwise the router behaves normally. I installed the new firmware about 48 hours ago, and I can restore functionality by powering down the router twice. ( the first time it won't work, second try is a charm.) This is now required about every six hours before it loses its mind, so I have a new thing to do at breakfast and dinner each day. Is there a known bug in this firmware for this and is there a fix coming. I think it's a bit unfair to have to pay for support when all I needed was to keep the secuity patches in the unit fresh.

Re: Wi-Fi connection lost with security Firmware V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 patch on R7000
I was having the exact same problem with V1.0.9.18_1.2.27. I downgraded my firmware to V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 about 10 minutes ago and working good so far. I will know in several hours if the wifi drops on this version also.

Re: Wi-Fi connection lost with security Firmware V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 patch on R7000
Same problem here after upgrade to V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 Wifi doesn't work for my mobile devices (Samsung S7 and Xiaomi redmi note 4) but works ok with Mac book and Mac book pro. Reboots do not seems to clear it (temporarily) for me. So downgrading now. Looks like a pretty big regression problem. (Unless this is a flaw in Android on the client side)
- Also the hotfix V1.0.9.20_1.2.28 does not solve this problem
- Factory reset and restore of the con figuration also does not solve this problem.

Re: Wi-Fi connection lost with security Firmware V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 patch on R7000
Going back to V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 solves the problem immediately (no factory reset / reread config needed).
Now figuring out how to file a bug with Netgear

I'm not so hot about downgrading my security patches to keep this up and running. But i'm also not so happy about buying new gear to keep up and decommissioning my perfectly good router.

You do not need to buy a new router. Option 1, wait for the new firmware from NG. Option 2, flash an alternative stable firmware.

Re: Wi-Fi connection lost with security Firmware V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 patch on R7000
Well in my case I have over 35 wireless devices in my home including a Ring doorbell and several Chromcasts that I rely on for entertainment. So waiting isn't much of an option for me. I picked up an Orbi 3 pack at Costco, added all my MacID (close to 50) addresses and I'll return it after all the smoke clears. Or not.

That's a good choice, but not everyone can afford a new router.
