can I run the firmware update for the r6300 onto an r6700.

OK, if you’re happy I’m happy, third party firmware can be a good option to go for.

No, they are different devices. It’s most likely that the R6700 would reject the R6300 firmware, because if it didn’t the R6700 would probably fail.

f/w has a product id. it is for. First thing f/w does during update is checking the device id.

Thanks for the info Andy. Will Netgear ever post a firmware update for the r6700? I guess it's moot to ask if the firmware update for the r6400 would be compatible with the r6700.

Andy, fixed problem i was having with my router (r6700) & ramge extender (ex6200) which was signal strength & consistency. Uploaded firmware (DD-WRT - build 27365M). was able to tweak router. all is good.
