Hi, WIFI was lost whilst watching TV. Several hours later it was discovered that the wireless had been switched off and could only be switched on until the wireless button was switched on. How can the button be switched off? Have I been hacked. I have Armour installed. Anyhelp appreciated.

I did not know trhe switch existed. When I eventualy checked if the wireless was on, the box was ticked to say it was enabled but greyed out with the words added to the effect telling me that it needed to be switched on at the button. I copied and pasted that to search in the manual but nothing came up. I checked the router and saw the button. It came on then.
I did switch the wireless off on Wednesday in advance settings for a brief period and switched it back on again at the same place. Perhaps it was a hangover from that? I have had the router for 18 months and have never switched the wireless off during that period prior to that day.
Thank you for your response. I do feel a bit better about the 'hack' now.

Maybe someone pressed the wifi on/off button. Cats are good at that. So are children.

yes a possibility except no cats or kids. No chance of something dropping on it neither. Thank you for your response.

Re: nighthawk AC1900 R7000 wireless button switched off
Oddly, on my R7800 router at least, there is no connection between the physical switch and the on-board controls through the browser graphical user interface.
If you turn off the wifi from the GUI – not the switch – the LEDs goes out but you can't use the switch the turn it back on.
Likewise, turn off the wifi with the physical switch and you can't turn it on again from the GUI.
So looking at the LED does not tell you how the wifi got turned off.
You are not the first person to have turned up here with wifi that magically went off.

You are not alone. Many people donlt realise that the wifi LED is also a switch.

That "greyed out" bit is a sign that the physical switch was off.
