nighthawk R7000 firmware V1.0.9.12_1.2.23 update wifi problems

i have a problem with my wifi after updating firmware to V1.0.9.12_1.2.23.
after i updated i got less then half the download speed on my wifi now.
anyone got the same problem, and how do i fix it ?

Thank you for contacting Netgear Support.

Unfortunately our developers do not announce the release dates of upcoming firmware, so I am unable to supply you with that information.

You have indicated that there are problems with the router performance since you updated the firmware. In such a case, it is possible to downgrade the firmware, until a new version of the firmware is released that addresses the problems of the earlier version.

To downgrade your firmware, please follow these steps :

1) Go to this link to download the firmware version 1.0.9.10. (Current version is 1.0.9.12)

->Save this file, and extract the zip into a folder, e.g. on your desktop
2) Connect an Ethernet cable to your router and a laptop / PC
3) Open a browser and go to this address : routerlogin.net
4) Enter the password that you chose during the router setup. If you did not change it, it will be ‘password’
5) When you see the menu, go to Advanced -> Administration -> Router Update
6) Click on Browse and choose the folder where you unpacked the zip file, then choose the .chk file.
7) Click on Upload and wait for the installation to complete.
I hope this will help you with the performance problem of your router.

Engineers knew about this problem and now working on it as ElaineM said to me. So you need to wait for new firmware.

I also have problems with wifi after the last firmware. My issue is that my 2.4ghz band get authentication problems. Then i have to disable WPA2 security and then turn it back on for devices to reconnect. And 5ghz band its slow as, well...slower than 14.4 modem. So every wifi device i own and that is connected are very happy right now.

 So they can give you a false sense of security when by releasting an untested beta firmware, only to waste your time downgrading to an inherently insecure firmware to begin with... not good business sense to waste your customers time to rush something to market which address one issue while breaking and making the rest unusable!

It's not beta firmware. Also you can take in charge that it need time to solve some bugs, because sometimes it's hard to find the solution.

I noticed the download speed was slow not from this update but one prior to this it was a major security update at the time I didn’t notice because my download speed was 42 but I was paying for 50 but it used to be a little higher then 50. Now I changed to 100/100 but my download speed is still 42. I enabled WiFi on a frontier fios router which provides hard line Ethernet to some of the rooms and the speed I am getting from it is 102/121. One of the laptop connects to the NETGEAR router at download speed of 101 but all the iphones connect at 42

I reset the router, made sure qos was disabled, wmm was enabled, tried different channels on the 5g(5g is faster than 2g in my location) but none of this worked.

Called NETGEAR support and they said my router was out of warranty and it will be $90 to fix the problem.

First time Netgear router. Always used Linksys or Cisco. Learned my mistake. Never Netgear again.

And now my WiFi is completely gone. No 2.4 or 5 band is broadcasting their SSID. Lets hope not that my new S8000 switch gonna **bleep** up now then, since i allready have had enough trouble with this R7000 and the slowpoke A6210 usb wifi. This is really starting to get on my nervers. Yeah i know its being worked on, but seriously come on!!

Become afraid to update R7000 firmware because of its slow down wifi speed, and technician too slow to fix the problem.

Used to consider new latest Netgear router, but say no now, because it is time to stop the terrible customer experience now. 

There are a lot of same function products with high customer service quality in the market.

Try to update. At any time you can downgrade firmware to previous one. Mine is working well with 1.0.9.12 firmware version.

Type in your router "R7000", click on the router link that pops up. You will then get to the software/firmware page of the router. On the right side you will see "Firmware/Software" and on the bottom theres a arrow that points downward, then older firmwares will show up.

So after going back to previous version 10 my problem still exists. Not only wifi but ethernet connection loses internet connection as well. I have Xfinity/Comcast cable service so wondering now if there’s a compatibility issue.

I rolled back my firmware yesterday and im currently at fw 1.0.9.10_1.2.21. Had a hickup on the WiFi after 10 min, but everything has been stable for about 24hrs with 10 wireless device and 5 cable devices connected thru S8000 switch that is hooked up to r7000 router. Hope it will stay this way now.

The rollback seems to be only a temporary fix.  I rolled back and it worked for 2 days before problems occurred again.

I got the same router problem, with R7000-V1.0.9.12_1.2.23 my lan and wifi speeds are terrible. At first I turned back to R7000-V1.0.7.12_1.2.5, then the speed is perfect. But with the latest wifi wpa2 crack attack, I decided to install R7000-V1.0.9.12_1.2.23 back again. Hope they will fix the problem soon, otherwise maybe I will install a custom OS.
