first time user, received a nughthqwk router and would like to install it for streaming. I was told this unit could not be hooked up with 2g and 5g lines.
From what I read I thouht i could plug both lines into this router nighthawk R7000.
Am I wrong?

What I ahve done is disconnected the Spetrum router and replaced it with the Netgear Nighthawk router as you mentioned.
My son in law confused me with the 2g and 5g. I thought those were seperate lines that had to be placed into the Netgear router and I couldn't find them. No wonder I was confused and confused everyone else as to what I was trying to do.
I will run the set up as per the manual.
I am also moving the router form being inside the AC Closet where the Tech had placed it and move it into the living room by the tv and computers.
This should help in reception and drop issues when I am streaming.
Thanks for being patient and understanding while I am educating myself. The forum has been a great source of information and help.
Best,
Paul

What, exactly, does "spectrum 2g and 5g" mean to you?
Spectrum is a cable-TV-type ISP. Their influence over the wireless
part of your networking is approximately nil. Do you have some kind of
cable modem?
> Model: R7000|AC1900 Smart WIFI Router
Is that your "a nughthqwk router"? Firmware version?

"install"? Connecting it to what?
Is there some actual problem which you are trying to solve?

"told" what, exactly, by whom? 2.4GHz agd 5GHz are radio bands, not
"lines".

What, exactly, did you read, where?

What, exactly, did you expect to "plug into" what?

Probably, about at least some things. For a start, you might want to
visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read.

Re: setting up router using spectrum 2g and 5g
Sorry for the confusion. I am a newbie to this.
I have spectrum internet service and would like to connect this router. I have a modem and router currently from Spectrum. The modem is connected to the router via ethernet, there is cable connected on the modem and the other is a power cord.
In looking at it again, I have to disconnect the existing router from Spectrum and connect the nighthawk via ethernet to the modem, then plug in the other line to the nighthawk that was connected to the spectrum router.
I thought the 2g and 5g were lines that had to go to the router but these are bandwiths.
I guess, I was making it to confusing.
I want to set this up for streaming to increase better connectivity.
Thank you for making me look at this again and finding out there is no two lines.
I have no instruction manual with this unit and will get one online, so that I can set this up correctly.
Best,
Paul

You lost me. "the other line"? What, exactly, are you connecting to
what, exactly? (Hint: If a device has different types of Ethernet
ports, then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)

It's still unclear to me. Are you trying to replace your old router
with the R7000, or are you trying to add the R7000 to your old router to
improve your wireless-network coverage, or what? If the latter, then
look for "Use the Router as a Wireless Access Point" in the R7000 User
Manual.

What's special about "streaming"? Is there some actual problem which
you are trying to solve?
