LED Power Blinking AC1750

The amber “power” LED slowly blinks. No other LED’s are on or blinking. Tried unplugging, waited 8 hours for updates, and pushed reset button. Problem persists. Any ideas what to try next?

It was not brand new. It was about 6 months old. It was still under hardware warranty.

You seem to be a candidate for the TFTP recovery scheme.  See, for
example:

There is support stuff, including a manual, for the R6300v2 somewhere at the end of this link:

The manual will tell you that this is down to corrupt firmware, as your screen grab show.

If it does not respond to the standard factory reset, the next thing to try is a recovery reset.

  • Press reset for 30 seconds
  • Keep pressing reset while removing power
  • Keep pressing reset for another 30 seconds while apply power

That might let you in with the browser interface to mend the firmware. If not, then it may, indeed, be TFTP as a last resort.

Re: LED Power Blinking AC1750

Actually, my router is version3.

I’ve attempted the TFTP firmware fix, but I continually receive the message “connect request failed.”

One difference from instructions is the light sequence. When I follow these steps, the lights are different: “Watch the Power LED. It starts with an orange color, and then start flashing.” and “Count at least 10 flashing power LED and release the reset button.”

For me, the router will not return to flashing orange power LED if I am pressing the reset button. Instead, when I power the router on while holding the reset button it just cycles through a sequence in which all the lights go on and off. It is only when I release the reset button that the orange power LED blinking continues.

At this point I press enter for the TFTP fix and I get “connect request failed.”

Re: LED Power Blinking AC1750

Ran a ping test. Came back negative. Hardware is faulty. Returning router to NETGEAR.

Thanks for the help.

Re: LED Power Blinking AC1750

If that is a brand new device that has never worked – it isn't clear how this came about from your first message – then back to the seller is a better option.

And even better option is something other then Netgear when you return the box.

So return and get another. You are into pain and suffering.

Re: LED Power Blinking AC1750

My R6700 has the exact same issue since morning today, I used TFTP to install the new firmware and the file is copied successfully but then the amber light blinks indefinitely, (it's the only light thats on rest lights are OFF)

I have the hardware warranty, 6 months old router however customer support says since i'm able to ping the Gateway IP and the router responds, this is not a hardware issue and needs another 50$ for providing tech support to fix this issue? the brand new one in amazon today is 79$

Not a very detailed description of a moderately complex procedure,
with ample opportunities for error.  As usual, showing actual actions
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.  The actual
"tftp" command, including the actual name of the firmware file, would be
a better start.

Assuming some missing details, that sounds plausible to me, but I
haven't looked closely at the actual warranty to see what's covered or
not.

I'd play with it a while, and then contribute it to a charity store
before I'd pay Netgear more for the privilege of further dealing with
Netgear.  Of course, if your situation differs from the one of the
fellow who started this thread, then I'd also start a new thread for
this new situation.
