Changing modem for my RAX45

I am thinking of upgrading my modem. I currently have a Nighthawk AX4300 6 Stream router. What kind of setup work will I have to do with the router once I change the modem?

The best bet?

Check with your isp to see what's compatible. We can recommend all kinds of things but if its not compatible with your isp, its a bit pointless.

Thank you! I am just wondering what kind of changes need to be made to the router if I install a new modem (CM1100 for example)?

What modem do you have? Is it just a modem, is it a modem/router combo device?

If its simply a modem, get the modem activated first.

then power it off, hook up the router (powered off), power on the modem, give it a few minutes and then power on the router.

   From what to what?

If all you're doing is a modem swap, then I wouldn't expect any.  If
your (unspecified) "my modem" were actually a modem+router, then things
might get more complicated.

Your ISP might be interested in the MAC address of the new modem, but
I don't see why the router would care about such a change.

Re: Changing modem for my RAX45

I am currently using a Motorola Surfboard SB6121 modem (modem only) which my RAX45 router is connected to. I want to change that out for the CM1100. I didn't know if I would have to change any settings on the router once I switched over. Or if it just entailed restarting the router after the new modem was installed.

It *should* work fine with a reboot in the proper order once the modem is activated.

I say should because stranger things have happened.
