Factory Reset fail

Hi Orbi Community,

I factory reset my router try to get rid of my old SSID but after two resets I still see them being broadcasted in my known networks. (still connectable) I used to video tutorial provided on Orbi’s Support website but to no avail, they are still there.

Re: Factory Reset fail

Does using the ERASE button on the routers web page help at all?

What model Orbi system do you have? I see you tagged a SXS80 series...

Re: Factory Reset fail

In case your ORBI SXR80 is enabled for using Netgear Insight it will (in my understanding) fetch the config again even after a factory reset. You might have to go the Insight App or Insight Web portal for configuring and changing the SSID as per your new requirements.

Not sure fellow @FURRYe38 has spotted there are (for reasons) no Orbi Pro systems listed on the KB article referenced. Feels like a lack of any practical experience operating Orbi Pro or any other Netgear Insight managed devices.

FMI: How do I reset an Insight Managed Switch or Wireless Access Point to factory default settings in Ins...  The same applies to all Netgear Insight managed devices, including the Orbi Pro systems.

Re: Factory Reset fail

did you factory reset and/or re-sync the satellites?

I've noticed that if I only reset the router and don't sync the satellites, the satellites will retain the same ssid until that has been done

Re: Factory Reset fail

One can find the ERASE button on most if not all NH routers, home and business:

Re: Factory Reset fail

SXS80 are pure satellites, and cant be operated without a router resp.  main unit like  SXR80. This is the unit controlling everything.

Re: Factory Reset fail

The ERASE button sends a FR to all SXS and the SXR.

Re: Factory Reset fail

I have the Orbi Pro Wifi 6 SXR80 router and satellite. I can't login into the web control page right now so I used the hardware reset.

Re: Factory Reset fail

Did you reset both SXR and SXS?

If you ethernet connect the SXS to the back of the SXR, does the SXS get an IP address from the SXR?

Please let us know how you got it solved and what worked for you. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
