Hi,
I'm trying to setup my SXR50 in AP mode to work with a managed TP-LINK switch to have 3 SSIDs available for HOME, STAFF and GUESTS. Each of these SSIDs would have a tagged VLAN.
So:
1) I configured my vlans on my managed TP-LINK switch
2) I created VLAN profiles on my SXR50
3) I assigned my VLAN profiles to each SSIDs
4) I setted VLAN profile "1(Default)" and mode "Trunk" to SXR50 WAN port
5) I connected the SXR50 WAN port to my managed TP-LINK switch
But when a client connects to wifi, it does not receive any IP. When I disable the VLAN profiles and I sets a PVID on the port of the managed TP-LINK switch, the client have an IP.
What is the problem ?
Sorry for the question I'm a newbee.

Is not an Orbi requirement, its the concept of vlans. Imagine each Vlan as separate LAN with a different network range. The benefit is that you can use a single port or switch to manage several networks. I forgot to mention that the ports connecting the firewall to the switch and the switch to the Orbi must be configured as Trunks.

Re: SXR50 tagged VLANs for SSIDs and AP mode
I think you missed the firewall configuration. DHCP must be configured for each vlan.

Yes, is your firewall the DHCP server? It supports VLAN?

My DHCP server is a netgate and I never configured VLAN on my netgate.
Why I need configure VLAN to use VLAN on my SSIDs ?

Re: SXR50 tagged VLANs for SSIDs and AP mode
You never configured VLAN on the netgate because you were not using Vlans. Each vlan you are creating at the Orbi are separate networks, for example: 192.168.1.x /255.255.255.0 , 192.168.2.x /255.255.255.0, etc etc. Each of those networks needs a DHCP server. So what you should do is to vlan tagging until the netgate and there assign the network for each VLAN.

Re: SXR50 tagged VLANs for SSIDs and AP mode
That is correct. Is a L3 switch? the switch will create the networks and do DHCP? If not, pass the tagging to the firewall and create the networks there.

Re: SXR50 tagged VLANs for SSIDs and AP mode
No (https://www.tp-link.com/fr/business-networking/easy-smart-switch/tl-sg105e/#specifications)
I don't understand why I must do that. My current vlans work without that. Sorry for this questions ?

Re: SXR50 tagged VLANs for SSIDs and AP mode
Ok I configured my vlans on my pfsense .
I tested a vlan with a computer and I have an IP in the vlan range. It works 🙂
When I connect a computer to Orbi with ethernet, I have an IP in a vlan range. It works 🙂
When I connect a computer to Orbi with wifi, it can't get wifi 😞
An idea ?
