XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Our switch fan speed is repeatedly changing. We have multiple switches in the same rack and this is the only one reporting the error. And our temperatures in the room are fine. Does anyone know if this is a prelude to a fan failing or if something else is going on?

Re: XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Hi WyattAkins,
Welcome to our community! 🙂
May I know if the switch is running on its latest firmware? Some switches have a bug with the fans. Please try upgrading the firmware to its latest version and let's see from there.
Regards,
John

Re: XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Hi John,
I believe we are on the latest firmware version. I could attempt to upload the 6.5.1.51 firmware and see if that fixes it.
Model Name Boot Version Software Version
XS748T | 1.0.0.0 | 6.5.1.51 |
Thanks,
Wyatt

Re: XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Firmware update v6.5.1.59 seemed to help. We are still getting fan speed logs but they are not constant. For instance, we received 28 events over a 14 hour period but no events occurred for a few days prior. Whereas before they were occurring every day to the extent that it blocked out other activity.

Re: XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Please open a ticket on NETGEAR support and please let them know the status of your switch. If the device has a hardware fault, an online replacement will be provided. Please be ready with a copy of the proof of purchase for verification.

John

Re: XS748T Fan Speed Repeatedly Changing
Support recommends doing a factory reset and then flashing the firmware. We'll plan an outage for this and see if that helps.
