Readynas Pro with 6.5.0 RC3 (High System Fan RPMs)

Hi guys,

I have been running the latest 6.5.0 RC3 on my Readynas Pro and noticed that the System Fan is fluctuates between 1500 to 12053 RPM. CPU is stable at 2008.  On my Readynas Pro 6 both CPU and System Fan readings are normal generally speaking (i.e. 1500 CPU and 2008 System) without any significant fluctuations in speed.

I have tried to play with the fan settings (i.e. Quite, Cool, Balanced), however, I do not see nor hear any differences. Both my Pro and Pro 6 have been moded with a Q6600 cpu. Before 6.5.0 RC I had not fan issues with my Pro.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Re: Readynas Pro with 6.5.0 RC3 (High System Fan RPMs)

Please send in your logs for both units (see the Sending Logs link in my sig).

In the email make it clear which one is for the system having the problem and which one isn't.

Re: Readynas Pro with 6.5.0 RC3 (High System Fan RPMs)

When I try to click the download logs button on my Pro I get a server 500 error. What should I do?

Never mind, I resolved the issue.

I am unable to send the logs. I have tried twice and get bounce back errors from the Outlook servers. Can I send them at an alternate email of yours?

Hi spiderman1,

I hope you won't mind trying it again. But if it still won't work, try to upload it wikisend.com and give us the download link.

Kind regards,

Maybe your email is too big. Try sending each of the logs zip files in separate emails.

Thanks for the logs.

I can see you have the fan control package installed.

Are you using that? If so that may be interfering with the inbuilt fan control.

Noticed the same with my old ReadyNAS Pro and 6.5.0. Had "fancontrol" installed. A little apt-get action to remove lm-sensors & fancontrol and a reboot later, she's nice and quiet.

I also removed the lm-sensors package, however, I am getting additional System status icons that need to be eliminated at the UI level. It is being presently addressed by Netgear techs. Fans are running normally with the latest production release.
