RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
I upgraded to Beta T169 yesterday.
Today when I went to check the logs, the Admin page had an error, couldn't connect.
RAIDar didn't see it.
I went to look, the LED screen had "out of memory+2f9", buttons were not rersponding.
I did a hard reboot (hold down the front power button).
It came up, I get the admin page up, RAIDar saw it.
Logs page said 'no logs', then Admin page disconnected, RAIDar lost it.
Front panel display is blank, button backlight lights up briefly, but nothing on display.
Drive lights are flashing.
PC cannot access shares.

Is it any different if you boot into volume read-only mode?
Which services are you running?
Which apps do you have installed?

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
It did not respond to the 3 power button press, soft power down.
Did a hard power down, intending to boot read only.
Disconnected USB Drive, ESATA drive. Front USB stick still there w encryption keys.
Got to boot menu.
Display was not responding to key presses, backlight comes on but 'boot menu' display does not change.
Hard power down, tried again, ditto.
Hard power down, normal boot. Came up.
Managed to download logs via RAIDar, discussed below.
Admin page worked for a while, things looked normal, then lost contact and disappeared from RAIDar.
Seems a few minutes is all I get.
Logs.
Nothing in system.log prior to todays first reboot. (disk spindown memory logs gone presumably)
Tried 3xpower button again, presses a few more times, display woke up.
Display works but is exteeeeemly slugish.
Managed to get soft power down started, display took minutes to change. Still sitting on 'Shutting down, goodbye'.
(changes in beta re LCD control?)
It sent the 'shutting down' email, I'll give it a long time to hopefully finish.

@mdgm-ntgrmy 2nd post war written before I saw your post.
From recollection:
Services SMB, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH (not responding), DNLA (but I don't use it)
Apps. None.
Volume read-only, see my 2nd post, boot menu not responsive.

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
Checked how the shutdown was going.
Display shows "bfq_lookup_next_entity+eb", no response to buttons.
Drive lights not flashing.
Hard power down. Restart.
The % loaded on Encryption Key pauses for a long time (slugish display?)
Got logs.
Is this many apache's normal?

Obvious why admin page is not responding.
ATM SSH is working, but I'm not a linux guy.

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
After frontview F/W update, the frontview reboot didn't work, it kept comming back and saying 'update complete reboot', I did restart via frontview power icon, that didn't work either.
So I had to hard boot.
Came back,
Booting...
Updating F/W
...
Booting...
Sat at 99% Encryption Keys for very many minutes, with RAIDar showing 'system starting up'
Eventually came up.
Admin page was initially working, then offline. Worked enough to show the new F/W level.
RAIDar shows healthy(initially, later it disappears), but hangs when trying to download logs.
Shares not working.
Display show name & IP, buttons unresponsive.
SSH working, slowly.
Is it OK to do 'shutdown -r' from SSH?

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
Summary for others/history.
I was AFK, when I looked my ssh had died too.
Rebooted, came up.
mdgm ased for tech support mode via boot menu.
Got to boot menu, touchpad buttons do nothing except light the backlight, unable to go to tech support mode. Told mdgm.
Rebooted.
Came up, RAIDar says still in support mode. (SSH access not working, presumably due to support mode)
Admin page works for a short while after reboot, 'support mode' box is NOT ticked, so how do I turn it off?
Left it that way.
AFK, came back display 'out of memory+2f9'
Almost 9pm, will keep an eye out for messages for a bit, but baring that will try again tommorrow...

If antivirus service is running, please disable it. Then reboot.

Try disabling quotas on your volume (System -> Volumes -> Gear icon on the volume -> Settings).

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
Back on deck.
Update.
@mdgm-ntgr set it to get in technical support mode. Rebooted, been in tech support mode.
Last PM ' running a fragmentation check. It's looking stable in tech support mode.' - cross-fingers...
@Retired_Member not running antivirus.
@Skywalker IIRC not using quotas.

Quotas are enabled at the volume level by default even if you haven't set a quota for any share on your system.

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
Update.
Beta 3 T180 was installed and quotas disabled.
NAS is running, with minor issues, touch buttons don't work, usage info not available in frontview (due to quotas off).
Installed PHPSysInfo to get usage info.
Noticed a far larger number of processes since I remember last time i used it, is that normal?

Re: RN316 - OS 6.7.0 Beta hang - Out of Memory+2f9 on LCD
I just emailed logs (under disc spindown subject) in case anyone is interested in T180 logs.
Appart from the button issue, is my NAS supposedly in a normal (but beta) state?
There have been a couple of strange things, I'm wondering if I should report them as beta issues, or whether my setup is just a bit flakey ATM.

I think there's a fix for the touch button issue coming in the next build.

@Michael_Oz, can you try enabling quotas on Beta 4? Please let us know if you have any issues afterward.

@Skywalker updated. Yet to enable quotas, will give it a day. Touch buttons fixed.

@SkywalkerEnabled quotas, it's still 'calculating' (~90min in) but doesn't appear to be gobbling memory. Tho the original hang took more than a few hours.

It's all looking healthy from what I can see. That leads me to believe there were some broken quota record trees that caused the issue, and rescanning the quotas fixed it.
