Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

I really hope so!

What is the point of releasing a NAS.. Without FTP!?

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

FTP should be working over ReadyNAS Remote on 5.3.3 firmware, I think.

Edit: 4.2.20 beta for x86 indicates Remote is changing to use CIFS, so I think I was mistaken to think this.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

The built in FTP(S)-server is necessary. I am very surprised by its absence, it would be desirable to have the same set of possibilities as in v1. NAS without FTP it isn't serious.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

The service is there. Just no options in UI to enable or configure it.

I believe that you can use FTP over ReadyNAS Remote.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

It was just updated to 5.3.3, FTP isn't present.

How ReadyNAS Remote is related with the FTP-server?

Install the software on your PC or Mac. This is the software that makes the ReadyNAS look like it’s on a LAN to Windows or OS X, even when you’re in a different part of the world. At the end of the installation, you will need to create a ReadyNAS Remote user ID.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

Install the SSH Addin, reboot.
apt-get update
apt-cache search sftp
->find it 🙂
apt-get install vsftpd

-> login with wsftp or other client and your ssh-login data

Also works for installing svn on ReadNas Duo v2 (apt-get install subversion)

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

Why would you want to install vsftpd when proftpd is already present?

Remote for iOS/Android uses FTP.

Sad but after RAIDiator upgrage to 5.3.3 i can't no more login to ssh. Reinstalling "EnableRootSSH_1.0-arm.bin" doesn't bring effect.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

What have you done using SSH? Have you been using apt-get?

Have you installed any other add-ons?

No. Just using "top" command.
I have installed "ReadyNAS Remote" after reading your post.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

SSH still works for me.

Do you get a login prompt when attempting to connect via SSH? Are you remembering that the 'root' user is the SSH user?

Yes I get a login prompt and use "root" username and the admin password.
Reboot has helped to solve a problem with ssh

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

There is an add-on to enable FTP for use by ReadyNAS Remote. See 5.3.3 Release Notes: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_arm_5_3_3_Notes

It appears from 4.2.20 beta release notes that they will be changing to using CIFS for ReadyNAS Remote so I guess there's no plans to add FTP as an ARM feature anytime soon.

I guess that most file protocol will be added in 5.3.4 ^^

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

Hi Guys,

Did you test 5.3.4 if FTP support is there? Any other new features? I do not see it in release notes....however we all have been expecting them to be released in 5.3.4!

Cheers,
Michal

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

Now expected in 5.3.5.

5.3.4 was an urgent fix to an issue with the power timer feature where if the NAS was auto shutdown and the power was disconnected when the power on event happened the NAS would fail to boot and need to be RMA'd.

Re: ReadyNAS Duo V2 and FTP

Installing the add-on should be pretty quick. Does the Dashboard report successful installation of the add-on? You might need to try restarting the NAS.
