Online (VPN Disconnected) issue in windows 7

Hello to all community..

We have a ReadyNas rn214 device..We have install the ReadyCloud app on different PCs some of them running Windows 7 and others running windows 10..

On windows 10 PCs the ReadyCloud app makes a VPN connection and loads the shares without any problem. But on all  PCs running windows 7 the app cannot make the VPN connection and displays Online (VPN Disconnected) !!

The firmware is updated to 6.10.1 version !

I have tryed turning off and then again on the ReadyCloud service from admin page and to restart the device  but i am still facing the issue..

Why i am facing the issue only on windows 7 PCs ??

    Welcome to the Community!

Have you tried removing the NAS from your ReadyCloud account and rejoining it? You may also want to check your Network settings as it might have changed (DNS servers, IP Address)

Hi thanks a lot for your answer!!

The ip address has not been changed and dns ip is the ip of the router...

We tried to remove the Nas system from ReadyCloud account with the Leave button on ReadyCloud service in admin page under the cloud tab. But now in readycloud web page in discover tab we can discover the nas system only with serial number(not by pressing continuously for 5 seconds the backup button on nas device and pressing retry)! When we press the Manage button for the discovered nas device it redirects to the local ip of admin page but we cannot sign in with our readycloud username and password!!! The account is already updated to netgear account.

Why it doesn't accept the password? Until we left the device from readycloud account we could sign in with that password to admin page!

When signing in to Admin page you usually use the local Admin and password that you have set. Since you left the NAS on ReadyCloud then that is one reason why you are not able to login using the MyNETGEAR account. Kindly try to login using the local admin account and password then join back the NAS and try to login back using the Desktop app to check if the VPN disconnected issue is resolved :)

  • Hello,

We have recently resolved this issue for our own Windows 7 PCs where the Leaf Network Adapter in Device Manager was showing as non-functional. Reinstalling Readycloud with the latest version did not work, while removing the Leaf Network Adapter and reinstalling via reinstalling Readycloud also did not work.

Here are the steps taken that got Readycloud able to connect via VPN again:

    1. Uninstall the Leaf Networks Adapter in Device Manager.
    2. Uninstall Readycloud.
    3. Reinstall Readycloud with an older installer, we used one from 28/09/18 (did not work due to security updates) and then again with one from 11/03/19. You may only need to use the one from 11/03/19 but if it does not work, try again but installing 28/09/18 first. The Leaf Networks Adapter will be reinstalled, this takes some time to complete.
    4. Reinstall the latest version of Readycloud from the Netgear downloads page http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyCloudSetup-v1.8.1220.exe

This caused the Leaf Networks Adapter to be updated from the older version, rather than reinstalled, and that older version may have contained certificates related to Windows 7 that the newest version does not. This is only our guess as to the cause of the issue however.

Here are links to the older versions of Readycloud installers that we used:

    From 28/09/18: http://www.mediafire.com/file/8ii491rgeq0ijhx/ReadyCloudSetup_-_install_first.exe/file

    From 11/03/19: http://www.mediafire.com/file/k6sp3dkntkl4itg/ReadyCloudSetup_-_install_second.exe/file

Please keep in mind these will only be available for 14 days, but hopefully Netgear will have resolved the issue by then.

Apologies to all if it is against the rules to share the links above, but there are no previous versions of the Readycloud software available on Netgear.com as far as we can tell.

Hopefully that helped in getting your PCs connected again!
