Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

How big is the chance anyway to recover them from the generation logs? Although I kept only some of the data in the home folders, they're a bit too valuable to just let go and proceed.

I do have two ReadyNAS'es (yes, they back up each other), but the second one has the same folder structure. I will travel to the backup site today and see if the other device is affected as well. I fear it is, and the data is probably lost on both systems. I cannot access it from the web here because it is behind a IPv6 router.

Re: ReadyCloud service went offline and Delete all user accounts and files

Firmware 6.61

Not happy, this is a business system. I think someone at Netgear is having a good April fool joke.
Just had to re-enable readycloud on the NAS, and re-add all the remote users in ReadyCloud. Fortunately not much in the "home" folders. May be able to restore these from backup. Thanks Netgear.

Re: User has been Auto deleted - all data lost

kohdee's comment sounds promising. So I check mails every 10 seconds now...

"If there is a mistake that can be done, it will be done..."

Best wishes for all our data...

Re: ReadyCloud service went offline and Delete all user accounts and files

This happened to me as well. My three users were deleted at 4:59AM PST on March 30.

Thu Mar 30 2017 4:59:51 Account: User <USER 3> was deleted.
Thu Mar 30 2017 4:59:48 Account: User <USER 2> was deleted.
Thu Mar 30 2017 4:59:43 Account: User <MAIN USER> was deleted.

Re: User has been Auto deleted - all data lost

I would like some assistance as well, please!

Kohdee's message indicates the timeframe as 8AM - 12PM PST, but my users were all deleted at 4:59AM PST. It seems that I'm not the only one with users who were deleted outside the stated timeframe.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

My 2 main user accounts have been deleted and we run a small business from here, luckily I have restored backups from Saturday so only lost data up until the incident at 3:30pm Thursday.

What is the safest way of preventing this in future? I presume do not use RCLOUD and create only local users? What's the best way to access data from a mobile device not using rcloud?

I'm not sure I saw anything in the terms and conditions allowing access to netgear to alter my stored data

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

The backup site admin is a genius. She moved most stuff out of the user folders into the share folders. We were able to recover 95%-97% of the data loss. However we still want to recover a few folders on our main server. Any updates from NETGEAR whether btrfs tools might help us somehow?

Re: NAS offline ?

@Slas

Nein danke.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

Looks Like I'm in the same boat as a lot of people here,

I'm running a small business with several users remote to the office. - We lost our NAS connection Thursday, I've not seen any emails as yet; and am wondering as to what sort of time frame we are looking at to identify the issue, bring the readycloud service up and running and what steps have been taken to ensure that there is no chance of reoccurrence.

I might be one of the lucky ones where most of our data was in shared folders, but until the systems up and running, only then would I know the full extent caused by the deletion of the users / home folders.

Not what you would expect from a backup system.

Re: User has been Auto deleted - all data lost

I was affected and am awaiting the email from Netgear.  My unit will remain shutdown until I am contacted by Netgear as to the next steps.

Thu Mar 30 2017 8:33:29   Account: User 'XXXXXXXX@gmail.com' was deleted.
Thu Mar 30 2017 8:33:22   Account: User 'YYYYYYYY@yahoo.com' was deleted.

Re: User has been Auto deleted - all data lost

I've shutdown my ReadyNAS so that my snap shotting process doesn't overwrite any data that may be recoverable.

I fear that my 2TB+ of data that was in the ReadyCloud Home folders is going to be a serious PITA to recover. I did have a backup running to an external hard drive, but that doesn't have the most recent data which of course happens to be the most critical data.

I will be signing up for a cloud backup service immediately after my data is recovered. Unfortunately there aren't many that work with the ReadyNAS. 😞

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

I am experiencing the same major outage.  Currently I am 2000 miles away from my NAS so I cannot check it locally.  I tried to hit the IP Admin page but get a message saying that the ReadyNAS Admin Page is offline.

I also tried accessing ReadyCloud and get a message showing my NAS but stating its offline. I dont believe my ReadyNas is powered down becasue I have it on UPS.

I contacted Netgear Techncial support and they advise not to make any changes or try anythign at this time as the engineers are working for a resolution and restoration. I have phone support with them. They added my ticket and case to a list of many from what it sounded like.

Not very encouraging news, and I wont know until I get home next week if I lost any data on my Redundant NAS. I didn't realize I needed to back up those redudunand drives.  THat was the reason I made the purchase of the ReadyNas.  Very disappointed to say the least, but tryign to remain calm until there is more news, and not making any type of changes or new logins or new users.

My best wishes for everyone in this terrible situation.

Re: ReadyCloud service went offline and Delete all user accounts and files

Hi Guy's,

Looks like I'm possibly in the same boat, I was copping files from the NAS to the front USB, 30/03.2017 left the device to do it's thing came back to find I was unable to log into my account via ReadyCloud App or Via Browser, Can't access password recovery and have just tried OS Reinstall to find the default admin/password combo aren't working either.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

I'm back home now, still cant log in to the admin page, and readycloud is still showing my NAS as offline even though it is ON. I can access my folders through the LAN - Network Attached Drives. Plex server still works locally and away.

Is there any way I can force the admin page to open? [admin] and [password] dont work, neither do my own username and password.

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

Ok, slight problem now... ReadyCLOUD says that there are no volumes or USB disks, however the admin page's Shares>Browse shows everything on the NAS.

So, is there anyone who knows of a way to access the admin page outside of my LAN please? This should allow me to download and upload files in the usual way without ReadyCLOUD working.

All I need is to find my NAS's ext ip and bung it in chrome address bar like -  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin yes?

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

If you use the Readycloud app, it NAT's the IP address. From a browser, it uses a secure HTML. If it says it's offline, you have to fix that first before you can do either one.

I'm in no way an expert. I'm just a bumbling amateur! So, is there a way to get into my files while I'm away from home without using ReadyCLOUD?

Re: Cant access my http://readycloud.netgear.com site

I've just bought a 214 and following the setup instructions it says to create a readycloud account - but when I enter the details to create an account I get an error message saying create new account error 4280420033 .... looking at this thread there seem to be a lot of issues.

Not a great start - should I just pack the whole thing back up and send it back to Amazon?
