iPhone, iPad do not see all folders in subdirectory -

Set up ReadyCloud for first real test.  Put many folders and subfolders on the NAS.   All the folders are there and viewable via Windows Explorer to the NAS devices.  Great!

Now installed the RCloud apps to my iPhone and iPad.  Loads and connects just fine to the NAS.  However,  noticed that not all the folders containing pictures are viewable via the 2 iDevices.

Here is the situation:

\\Gear\pictures  -      started off,   0 folders or files

\\gear\mystuff\pictures      has total of 42 folders

If I view using:
Windows explorer  - on LAN   -  see 42 folders
      Windows explorer  - type in 192.168.1.3 /admin > Shares > MyStuff>Pictures   -    see 42 folders

  RCloud APP for:
              iPhone    -  I see >40< folders
              iPad        -  I see   0  folders

However:  If I take the 2 >missing< folders, copy to
       \\Gear\pictures

I can see the 2 missing folders on both iDevices AND Windows explorer

Am REALLY confused.  How do I fix or diagnose?

Tom

  • Ok this is getting silly.

Experiment today:   Copied all 42 folders
              \\gear\mystuff\mypictures   >> \\gear\pictures

Confirmed:  via windows explorer - all are there

Both iDevices - iPhone and iPad show ONLY the 2 folders put there yesteday!

Clearly this is an issue of the Apple apps only.

Am I looking only at some 1) cache file or  2) index file of what is stored on the NetGear NAS instead of the real file and folders?   Could that be an explanation?

Maybe some techie out there can tell me how to fix and diagnose? :-)

Found an answer, but darned if I know why it works.   Hope some techie can tell me.

Works:    Copy each folder over, one by one... maybe cheat and 2 at a time.

Not work:   Select all, Copy in bulk

      /t

        Hello Tom_S,

        Welcome to the community.

Would you please check folder properties->General->attributes->Hidden check box for your none-show-up folders on windows exployer?

I guess "Hidden" check box is checked for it. So you cannot see this folder via IOS readycloud app.

If you want to see it, you can uncheck "Hidden" option for this folder on windows exployer.

        Best Regards.
