Connecting a camera NOT on the compatibility list.
I am testing out the ReadyNAS Surveillance software with a view to setting up a demo area for ReadyNAS and surveillance products. I have just installed the Surveillance software in a trial mode on a ReadyNAS 4200 and am trying to connect a Compro IP400P which is supposedly compatible with the ONVIF standard. Not having setup any cameras or the ReadyNAS Surveillance software before I am unsure if I am doing anything wrong or if this camera simply won't talk to the ReadyNAS Surveillance software.
Has anyone ever set up cameras that are NOT on the coimpatibility list? If so, where should I get started in trying to make this work?

I realize this post is old and stale, but I did get 2 cameras working that were not on the comparability list. It was a fairly painful process of process of elimination. I simply picked a vendor and model and tried to connect until I found a combination that connected. Not rocket science, just brute force. I wish I had a better answer. Perhaps I just got lucky. They have been working now for a long time, then a stroke of luck. With the latest release of the RNS add on, I then at least had the vendor of my cam's show up in the list. There was only one model, I tried it and it connected fine. More good news with this is that I can now use the iPhone app to connect to the cams which did not work when I was using the wrong vendor/model to connect. And motion detection now works as well which did not before using the wrong vendor/model. If you cant get them to work with RNS, you might try Zoneminder, that worked very well for me before the switch to RNS.
