Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
Hello I need Help Please
I have Ready Nas NVX
Firmware RAIDiator 4.2.19 Installed on it
I went to Readynas.com and found the add-on's and downloaded ReadyNas_Photos_II.bin
I went to my Nas and went to Add-ons and typed add new. Uploaded the file and it added it to my Installed.
When I click on installed I see the Readynas Photos II there.
When I click on the top Left Check box and hit Save the hour glass keeps going and nothing happens. Please help I'm stuck and would like to start to use this program.
When i look at Readynas Log File I don't see any problem there.

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
I believe when you check the top left box, it should enable the checkbox in the middle. You'll need to check that box as well - then hit the save button.
If that doesn't do it for you, I'd suggest you give it a try in Internet Explorer (if you're not already).

Both check boxes need to be checked before you click "Save". Please refresh the browser and try again.

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
Same here!!
both boxes checked and the "endlesstimer" in the middle of the web page.
If I click refresh, I see the addon not started., Many reboot did'nt help. Stopping all other addons/services did
Chirpa, from Netgear on this forum, helped me and will be connecting to my readyNAS remotely.

I'll keep posted.

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
How did you get it to let you reinstall it?
I'm getting the same install error that other people have been getting:
265: ERROR: mysql failed when creating mysql user. (error=1)

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
I have tried to remove and re-install readyNass Photos II without any success.
Can anyone help.
I have the same problems as other.
I got an alert that the add-on was succesffuly inststalled but I can not install not configure the apps.
Is there a way to unistall the add-on from the backend rather from the interface. I think the istallation is corrupt.
Thank you

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
Should be something like this
Be sure to check the name of the remove script using e.g. "ls -la". I think that's the name, but I'm not in front of my NAS at the moment.
# cd /etc/frontview/addons
# ls -la
# sh READYNAS_PHOTOS_II.remove

NetGear add-ons cannot be installed manually, except by NetGear.

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
this error is cause by someone changing the mysql root password. the addon expects it to be empty and fails installing because its not empty.
there is a solution. from ssh change the root password of mysql back to nothing.
here is how you do it via ssh. you need to know your current mysql password though (you should know it, you have set it after all):
Connect to the mysqld server with this command:
shell> mysql
Issue the following statements in the mysql client. Replace the password with the password that you want to use.
mysql> UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD('') <--- this is not a " but instead 2 '
-> WHERE User='root';
mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
The FLUSH statement tells the server to reload the grant tables into memory so that it notices the password change.
after that photos2 will install successfully. it may break whatever 3rd party addon made the changes to the password though.

Re: Intall Problems With ReadyNAS photos II
WOW - first experience with NetGear technical support left much to be desired...
I too have the spinning blue clock when trying to activate ReadyNAS Photos II on an Ultra 4. I spent 1 full hour on the phone with Rich (#41027) at tech support who, at the end of 1 hour, informed me that Photos II will only work on SPARC based systems and mine is X86 (at least he got the X86 part right). What a waste of time. I asked (and he refused) several times to transfer me to 2nd-level tech support. I've reviewed the product page multiple times and it claims Photos II is supported on the Ultra 4.
Anyone know how to fix the install issue? I have tried uninstall/reinstall multiple times on multiple PCs on both Chrome and IE and upgraded to 4.2.20 firmware. Thanks to Rich, I have also now re-installed the OS 🙂 All to no avail and leaving me very frustrated.
Looks like a great add-on/app...wish I could use it!
Thanks.
