By the way, I managed to get all 3 packages needed to get a PS3 MS on the readyNAS:

1-JAVA
2-codecs/engines
3-PMS

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

Will the hardware of the ReadyNAS Ultra(Single core) be good enough to run PS3 media server?

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

Yes it is. It can't decode and stream the raw video data but it's fast enough for anything else

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

I streamed 1080p mkv to our PS3 from my Ultra 2 so it does work, mostly... It had a few minor pauses during the whole movie (~150min)

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

Yes, I used the one posted here and manually updated the .jar file of pms later on though the mkvs were working before that.

I usually watch 720p though, so that might be why i don't have a lot of problems 😉

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

I downloaded the linux-version of pms from their website and unpacked it to /c/addons-config/pms
it overwrote a few more things, but i backupped pms.conf and editted the new one to get my settings back.

It worked, though i think not everything went smoothly (sometimes it stopped updating or couldn't be found and it took very long to be found after a restart) and i was to lazy to search for the problem, so i uninstalled everything and went back to the version that was posted here a while back.

And I don't know much about subtitles, but it should find them automatically.

The NAS is not showing up @ the PS3.

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

Yes , that fixed the problem. But I also want to use the remote service. is there a way to use them both?

I also am trying to edit the pms.conf file. But every time when I save the file and restart PMS. The file has the default values ans all my changes in the file are gone.

I change the file here /c/addons-config/pms

Re: PS3 Media Server for ReadyNAS PRO

to give up write access to addons-config:

from fronview, shares, share listing.

from there, go to addons-config (where all ps3ms folders resides) and click on CIFS and give default access to READ-WRITE

go on advanced tab and go to SET OWNERSHIP....blabla and check the box.

click apply

you should be ok.

hope this help. if not check around the forum for help on permissions.
