SSH connection closed
I've enabled SSH. But every time I log in, the connection is closed. What gives?

Re: SSH connection closed
I'm using root and my admin password. I haven't created any other users, so it's the only password I have. When I try to login, it says my password it wrong. There's no way I could have typed it in wrong this many times.
I have enabled SSH in services. Do I need to enable anything else?
Thanks.

Re: SSH connection closed
The same password you use with admin to login to the readynas GUI.
What nas do you have?
How are you trying to ssh in? Putty?
What are you trying to do using ssh?

Re: SSH connection closed
I have a ReadyNAS104.
I'm trying to connect via Terminal in OSX.
I want to use SSH to connect as an admin when I'm not on the local network and also modify some files (for Transmission for example)

Re: SSH connection closed
ssh root@ip.address.of.nas
Obviously put in the IP address of your 104
Then your password is the same as the GUI login password
Are you aware of the support implications of using ssh?
Have you upgraded to 6.2.0?

Re: SSH connection closed
Have you enabled ssh on the Nas?
I added some questions to my previous post.
Are the Mac and the NAS on the same LAN?

Re: SSH connection closed
If you have a problem with the Nas you may be denied support if you have altered things using ssh .
Perhaps reboot the Nas and the Mac.
Have you got a pc to try putty?

Re: SSH connection closed
Ah okay I knew that 🙂
I rebooted it several times, still doing nothing. More than that when I want to turn off the NAS, it's not always working and I have to do a "hard turn off"...
I don't have a pc but I have bootcamp, I'll try.

Re: SSH connection closed
If you have a transmission share, be aware that you should ensure that copy on write is disabled for that share. Netger advises against it.
Make sure you have a backup.

Re: SSH connection closed
In terminal type "ssh root@ip.address.of.READYNAS" It will give you the correct login name to apply the PW to.
