Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

I just bought the latest, greatest update of Sickbeard from the Add-On Xtras. I was happy the see the alpha version ask to update to the latest version of Sickbeard. I hit the update button and thought that I would finally get the latest version of SB, but to my surprise, it is still the alpha version. I know from another walk-through how to install a virgin install of sickbeard, but I have never been successful with my NV+ (which is why I don't mind buying the build from Who-Cares).

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to successfully get the update working with SB? It will be very helpful because I am sure that I am going to run into the same issue with I install the latest CouchPotato and probably headphones as well..

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

Every version of SB ever released has always carried the name "Alpha Master". Don't go by this, go by the hex code of each release. Unless this is suddenly changed to which I'm not aware. Mine updates itself internally, quite happily since WhoCares released a version that complies with the changes GitHUB made to their updating process.

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

The latest release i'm running (Config -> Help / Info) is: alpha (master) -- source : 9a511dc9296dbc1292bd98c421cad9c85f416bdf

Latest release on GitHUB (https://github.com/midgetspy/Sick-Beard/) is: commit 9a511dc9296dbc1292bd98c421cad9c85f416bdf

EDIT: Don't forget, there are several FORKS of SB, not maintained by the developer of the main app, that do different things in addition to base SB functionality. e.g: Customized Anime scraping, for one. These FORKED versions may not carry the "Alpha Master" moniker that the mainline release does.

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

When an update is available you ought to get a notification in the lower right hand side of the screen saying so, and by how many "commits" you are "behind". Like CouchPotato V1, many commits may be pushed to the GIT repository at the same time, so if it says your 15 commits behind, that doesn't mean you've missed 15 prior updates. It means the author of the mod (or a member of his team) have pushed 15 changes to the repository.

Currently, Neither Sickbeard or Headphones update themselves, whereas the new version of CouchPotato - V2 (otherwise known as CouchPotatoServer) can and does update itself and automatically apply the changes without need for user interaction (It does still notify you that changes have been applied though).

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

Again thanks for the clarification... The other big problem I am having is with the automatic downloads of shows. I am still having to manually pull down a NZB and then a to SABNZBD. Then other times, it will just magically pull down a show or something it the backlog. That has been perplexing me for awhile. I didn't have this issue when I was running SB on my Ubuntu box. Of course, I guess now my real issue a problem with the indexers. Now that NZBMatrix has bitten the bullet, I am limited to nzb.su, I don't know if that might be a factor as well...

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

The "days retention" value may be why it's not pulling some items. You will want to check this value both in SB and SABNZBD+ and set it to the retention value of your usenet provider.

NZB.su isn't working for me, I did have an account on there, but they seemed to have shut up shop too. I, like you used NZBMatrix primarily. NZBsRus seems to be the best alternative, but it's currently limited to VIP users, and that requires setting up bitcoin, which I'd rather not have to mess about with at this time.

It seems that NZB.su is redirecting to Usenet-Crawler.com for me, may try this going forwards (Another site that's based on the NewzNAB code). You can also enable the Sickbeard Indexer, although as it says in the app, it doesn't currently support backlog searches. So i'm guessing any shows added with only this indexer available will not get any old episodes pulled, but will get future episodes pulled, as they are posted.

I'd also set Sab's Post-Processing Scripts Folder to:
/c/.sickbeard/autoProcessTV

Then you can create a category in Sab that will use the post process script, and use the same category name in Sickbeard so that there is two-way communication between the two apps and your downloaded TV shows are both moved to the correct folder, and formatted with the required filename. There is a thread about this somewhere (either on this site, or ReadyNASXtras.com).

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

Another thing I've noticed with all these types of search App (CouchPotato, SickBeard, HeadPhones) when I was using them in conjunction with NZBMatrix was the format of the NZB title as posted to usenet was important. If the title of the Usenet post (as uploaded by the poster) doesn't conform to the result of the regex search these apps are using EXACTLY, it will be ignored. Also, sometimes they'll pull content that's not exactly what you were after, for the same reason.

There's not a lot that can be done about this unless Usenet posters all start uploading and titleing their posts in a way that conforms to these apps. Not out of the realms of possibility, after all, compared to the age of the usenet in general, these apps have only been around a VERY short time. But It may take a while, if it happens at all.

The other caveat is that SB sometimes skips a series if the whole series is in one NZB, as a pose to single episodes being uploaded as single NZB's. Add the regex algorithm conundrum to this list, and you will get a situation like the one your experiencing.

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

I have been using SB and CP for many years. Unfortunately, I became lazy and forgot the magic to make things work flawless. Then the ReadyNAS through is own curves, and finally it seems to be playing nicely. Just wanted to point out that nzb.su is working great, it just seems like SB is inconsistent with pulling for nzb.su. My retention is matching across the board on all the apps. So I am not sure what the issue is with the inconsistency.

Re: Issues with the Sickbeard Update on NV+

My ISP must of added them to it's blocked list, all I get with that Usenet Search Engine is 404's. For a while yesterday the https:// version was redirecting to Usenet-Crawler.com, now it's back to displaying 404's - at least for me.
