RN104 Issues
Hi all,
Currently having issues for the first time with my older RN104.
When trying to bulk transfer files to the NAS (fresh setup in RAID5) i am getting an error where the NAS 'crashes', the transfer stops, and i can no longer access the NAS via the IP page.
The error that the NAS shows is "do_exit+4b4".
Also there's no way to shut down the NAS physically, other than unplugging it, caushing another lengthy 'resync' - is there any other way around this?
Thank you.

Re: RN104 Issues
What firmware are you running?
Also, do smaller transfers run correctly? Do you know how about how large they need to be before the NAS crashes?

Re: RN104 Issues
Using latest firmare - 6.10.3
This morning i transferred 800GB in one go successfully (movie archive) - about an hour later after this was finished, i attempted to transfer tv shows of about 500GB which is when the error occured. I left the NAS as i couldn't manually power it down, and it eventually turned itself off after maybe 20-30min.
Upon turning it back on, it shows: Degraded, and re-syncing - Disk 1 is 'yellow'.
Given how long it always takes to resync when the NAS fails, i find it hard to replicate any 'errors'.
Note that before this i simply rain 4x2TB drives in JBOD flawlessly - to which a couple of weeks ago Disk 3 'failed'.
Continuing from this, i decided to test the disk, which it was fine.
Since then i've been attempting to setup RAID5 however have not had any success due to similar errors, and then the whole volume fails.
Is this just a nuance with RAID5?

Can you download the full log zip file from the admin ui, and post disk_info.log? The best way is to copy/paste it into a post. If you use the </> tool, the formatting will be better.

Re: RN104 Issues
Certainly nothing to be concerned about in the SMART data. You are using desktop drives, which can cause issues when used in RAID. The Seagate DM drives have a known issue with some firmware versions, and three of your yours do have versions that have the issue. See Known-issues-with-seagate-barracuda-7200.14-desktop-drives. Updating the drives' firmware, as detailed in the article in the link, may help.
