Vanilla Debian Image.
Does anyone know of a replacement firmware for the ReadyNAS duo that uses a more frequently updated version of Debian.
The factory firmware, was released around the the time noah built the ark :-). Also I want to be able to install software without having to always recompile.
Now that Sparc seems to be a legacy product, can someone at Netgear provide some information to help us get started?

Re: Vanilla Debian Image.
A vanilla Debian image wouldn't work, well certainly not a current one. Sparc hasn't been supported in Debian distros for quite a while now.

Re: Vanilla Debian Image.
The Sparc CPU in the Duo (v1) doesn't like the recent libc6 core. NTGR is left behind in that way, without a lot of development work. They also don't allow third-party at the time, theres an effort pushing them to allow unencrypted firmware to boot.
If you are on an x86 based ReadyNAS, its just a PC, anything goes.
