"Login failed" with Remote on OS X 10.5.8

I can't log in with ReadyNAS Remote - I just get the growler notification saying ReadyNAS Remote, Login failed. Yet when I click "View Profile" in Remote, it sends me to the website https://remote.readynas.com/ and I can log in just fine. I've tried logging in with Remote again and again and again, making sure the password is fine, making new accounts with different email addresses, etc. Nothing works. Just that growler notification.

I'm running OS X 10.5.8. I downloaded ReadyNAS Remote for OS X 10.5.x (version 1.0.20) from http://www.readynas.com/?p=1158 . (The file I got was http://www.readynas.com/download/remote/ReadyNASRemoteSetup.pkg.)

What am I doing wrong? Is there more information I can provide to help answer this question? (My apologies if I'm being an idiot or if this question has already been answered somewhere in these boards. I've been searching for most of the evening and can't find anything.)

Thanks in advance. I just my ReadyNAS Duo 4 days ago and love the thing. If I could make this work so that I could stream my music with Firefly to iTunes, it would be perfect.

Nevermind, I rebooted and it now appears to have logged me in.

Woo!

Your DRM-free music should be able to stream to iTunes. It will appear as a shared library. Are you wanting to do this over the net?

Re: "Login failed" with Remote on OS X 10.5.8

I have the same symptoms: "Login Failed" in the Growl dialog. However, rebooting did not fix this for me.

I'm running OS X 10.7 (Lion), though I had the same issue before upgrading. I'm using all default settings for network configurations, etc. I'm on a home network, not work, so no fancy firewalls would be getting in the way. In fact, I can login and use ReadyNAS Remote from Windows (same PC, dual-boot), no problem. Also, I can log in to the website.

Re: "Login failed" with Remote on OS X 10.5.8

What version of RAIDiator is on your NAS and what version of ReadyNAS Remote?

Since you're using Lion, please update to RAIDiator 4.1.8 beta: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=55155

After updating to 4.1.8, please update to the latest ReadyNAS Remote (installation is via System -> Update -> Local). Due to a bug in 4.1.8-T5 use a patched version of the add-on (patched so it can install on 4.1.8): http://www.rnasguide.com/wp-content/addons/sparc/ReadyNASRemote_1.0.9.78-nsp.bin

After updating to the latest Remote, reboot your NAS again.

Welcome to the forum!

P.S. This is a dead thread, notice that the last post before yours was mine over a year ago now.

Re: "Login failed" with Remote on OS X 10.5.8

Thanks for the incredibly fast response time! My ReadyNAS is remote right now, so it will take me a few days to enact the changes. After the delay, I'll be sure to tell the thread whether these recs were successful....

(Re the dead thread comment: it seems very "alive" from perspective of a search engine, such as for other people with my exact issue who want to see all the past solutions. So from that perspective, I thought it would make sense not to start a new thread. This forum etiquette--I'll never get it right.)
