replicate both ways?

I would like to buy another Netgear duo and replicate it across the web to another location. Easy enough according to the notes. Is this a free add-on?

However, is there a way that I can have the back up duo as a working duo as well.

E.g. duo 1 has four share areas, a,b,c,d and duo 2 has these backed up with areas ,back up a, back up b, back up c and back up d

Is it possible to make duo 1 have share back up areas e,f,g and duo 2 have active share areas e,f,g.

In simple terms I want my duo to back up to a family member duo and the family member duo to back up to mine. Obviously I don't want it backing up the back ups!

I also do not want the back UPS available on pcs to each other. E.g I don't want me to gain access to the back up of the other router without needing special username and password.

Re: replicate both ways?

Newbuilder,

Did you ever get an answer to your questions? I have the same questions, i.e.
NAS1 with share A to be backed up to NAS2
NAS2 with share B to be backed up to NAS1
shares to remain confidential, i.e. a user which normally works on NAS2 and doesn't normally have access to share A on NAS1 should not get access to the backup on NAS2 of share A.

Wondering about the costs as well, cannot find it anywhere.

Re: replicate both ways?

You need to purchase licenses for Replicate. One for each NAS.

Home licenses for Duo/NV+ v2
Desktop licenses for Ultra/Pro
Rackmount licenses for rackmount x86 ReadyNAS i.e. 2100/1500/3100/3200/4200

Replicate is not available for Duo/NV+ v1 which presumably newbuilder has based on forum join date.

There is a free trial for Replicate should you wish to try before you buy.

Re: replicate both ways?

Can Replicate replicate in both directions whereby in a 2 location scenario changes at location 1 replicate to location 2 and changes at location 2 replicate to location 1?? Or is this simply a one-way back solution??

Re: replicate both ways?

its one way, but you can setup 2 different backup jobs, to copy files from different shares to backup shares on the other device.

for 2 way replication, you might check out egnyte, however its not free and has a monthly cost.
