ReadyNAS NVX Lost All Shares After Scan - 195934
This is my very first post...
I have been using my NVX for about 1.5yrs and never had any issues.
I got the following message; "The on-line filesystem consistency check detected problems with your data volume. Please reboot the system with the volume scan checkbox enabled to do a full filesystem consistency check and repair." ...so I did exactly what it said and after the file scan was complete, I got this message:
Volume scan found errors that it could not easily correct. Please ensure that you have current backups of all valuable data before performing a full volume scan by rebooting the NAS through Frontview with the volume scan option enabled.
Now the system says the C: volume is 100% full and is offline:
Here is the tail of dmesg:
EXT4-fs (dm-0): ext4_check_descriptors: Checksum for group 29569 failed (7929!=0)
EXT4-fs (dm-0): group descriptors corrupted!
Here is a subset of fsck output:
NAS:~# fsck
fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
One or more block group descriptor checksums are invalid. Fix<y>? no
Group descriptor 29569 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
Group descriptor 29570 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
Group descriptor 29571 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
Group descriptor 29576 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
Group descriptor 29577 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
Group descriptor 29578 checksum is invalid. IGNORED.
/dev/c/c contains a file system with errors, check forced.
Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes
ANY Help would be greatly appreciated.... :-)

- OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertIt looks like we spoke over the weekend!
There was a firmware update between the two messages, and in an older firmware release we were having some issues with the FSCK. The latest version of that we included should help prevent the corruption, but the messages its an extra preventive measure to force the changes to the FS.
I was able to get your volume mounted as read-only, so I hope you were able to get your data backup from it. - 186cAspirantIt looks like I have the same/similar problem with all my shares now unavailable. Having successfully upgraded the disks from 4 x 500MB to 4 x 2TB and subsequently updated Radiator to 4.2.22 the system was working without problem. However the first scheduled File System Consistency Check failed reporting problems with the data volume and requesting a reboot to perform the full file system check. Subsequently, and after the reboot, the shares are now unavailable although showing but greyed out in Frontview.
Does anybody know any way to get these shares back into at least read only to recover this situation?
ReadyNAS NVX with 4 x 2TB Segate Consellations - OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertPlease contact support in regards to getting the data volume back online. There is a possibility to get the volume online.
I believe there 4.2.22 firmware should have an updated message explaining to run a backup before executing the FSCK. - Trial_MasterAspirant

I had same issue but closed #20112825 and decided to rebuild from backups. I was already running Radiator 4.2.22 and had successfully upgraded 4 x 1TB to 4 x 2TB the system was working without problem for days. I then had the same issue when the scheduled File System Consistency Check failed. I still had my original 1TB drives and since they were only a few days old i decided to start again.
Big job though. I'll be hesitant to change disks and expand again after what appeared to be a simple job completed and running happily, very quickly went to complete data loss. You wonder how the file system fails when the upgrade process appeared to run many checks throughout the process?
