Netgear WNR2000v5 does not allow internet connection
My provider is Spectrum. I have a modem and a Netgear router. The computer works as does the TV.
I am trying to set my TV to get other programs through the internet.
When I start the setup, it detects the modem but then says it can't find an internet connection.
All of the numbers (IP, DNS, etc.) are filled in except the last DNS has 0.0.0.0.
I have tried asking it to automatically fill in the numbers with the same result. No internet.
When I spoke to Spectrum they told me that there probably isn't a Port in the router to allow the internet through.
Does this sound correct or is there something else I am not seeing?
TIA for the help

Re: Netgear WNR2000v5 does not allow internet connection
try downloading the latest firmware for that router from the netgear.com website under the support tab and write the model number. Download the firmware and apply it manually and then try running the setup once you apply the latest firmware on the website. Les us know what happens. I would reccommend buying a newer router though since you'll get better speeds and coverage than that router you have. You could use it as an access point later to expand coverage though with that older router.

Swell. What is it? Maker? Model number? Does it work?

Why? Is this a new installation, or are you trying to enhance an
existing/working arrangement, or what?

"The computer"? "the TV"? Is either of them connected to any of
this network stuff?

With my weak psychic powers, I can't see any of them from here.
> Does this sound correct [...]
Not to me.

I don't know what you're not seeing, but I know that I'm not seeing a
useful description of your equipment, or what you're doing, or why, or
what happens when you do it.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read.
> try downloading the latest firmware [...]
I'd worry about router firmware _after_ I got a working Internet
connection.
