R6400 extremely slow connection to HD and drop outs!
I am asking the same question again, first time was 4 years ago, still have the same problems. All I got were questions about firmware, HD, and other questions about my setup that have nothing to do with the fact that readyshare is extremely buggie, slow and in my opinion not very useable!
Ay helpful input is appreciated! I will not be answering questions about firmware, make and model numbers, serial numbers etc... has NO bearing on this issue! This is a functionality question about solving the problems associated with using a feature that I believe still has not been fixed by NetGear! I have struggled with this for a long time, hoping that each new firmware update will solve this. NOPE! Why should I spend more money. I already did that when I purchased this one and no improvement!

Has anyone figured out why ReadyShare on the R6400 has so many problems staying connected to a USB 3.0 Hard Drive? I have to restart the router several times each day and often requires 4 or 5 attempts to re-establish contact. Some times I switch off the HD and sometimes I re-boot the router. I have even deleted and re-added the Share. Their whole setup process is counter intuitive to begin with and the readyshare interface is beyond confusing with odd tables, lots of backslashes, Q:\\, R:\\, shared, not shared, and other geeky non-sensical mumbo jumbo. Netgear engineers really should try harder to design a useable interface for their products... we're not all IT specialists.
PS. Pretty sure this has nothing to do with being used in a Mac environment since the USB HD is connected to the router. AND sometimes the whole thing stays active and functional for a week! The built-in software for readyshare is just not reliable and I do not understand why netgear won't improve this!!!

Good luck.
ReadySHARE depends on firmware, among many other things.
