I just saw a review of the new Vilo router that said it was as good as Eero (sp). Has anybody had any real world experience with Vilo? $60 (for all three) looks like a decent set of tools and support for three devices. Would be concerned if there is any call home feature and how that data is protected. Not promoting Vilo but want to buy the kids a mesh system for their new house and haven’t been thrilled with the $700+ Netgear and poor support and tools.
Is it going to be even close to the performance of the RBK850? Not even slightly.
will it be good enough? Depends on what its used for, size of the home, how your home is setsup, and your expectations. We don't know those or what you kids need based off the limited info you gave.
depending on what the situation is, other solutions might be better that vilo and cheaper than the Orbi setup all while keeping similar perfomance.
Is the home wired with ethernet? If so, then a cheaper dual band system could work.
If the home is small enough, a single router solution might be a better option.
