A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
I've had the adapter for about 9 months now working perfectly fine.
Yesterday netgear genie auto-updated, and after that, the genie stopped working as a whole.
I tried restarting the computer multiple times and the genie would never launch. I uninstalled the genie, redownloaded the drivers and such for the A6210 adapter, and reached the "please insert adapter stage". However, when I plugged it in it was never detected, although I could still connect to the internet through windows wifi. I tried plugging the adapter into all other ports and it would not be detected. I pressed the cancel button since wifi was still working and tried to launch Netgear Genie and it would not launch.
I cant launch the genie anymore so I cant monitor crucial stats about my device or auto-update to newest software. Anything I can do to fix this?

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
I have the same problem. I have had this adapter for over a year. Tonight there was an upgrade push and the adapter became undiscoverable and the Netgear software would not open. I finally had to do a system restore to get everything working again. There is definitely a major problem with this new upgrade.

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
Is there a phone number I can call since I'm a brand new user and my computer is not connected to the internet but using a 4G phone currently.

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
I have had this trouble and after searching several forums found an easy solution. Download driver from Mediatek where the A6210 is called MT7612U. Then uninstall Netgear Genie and then plug your dongle back in. In device manager install new driver manually and install Mediatek driver dated 28 Oct 2017 (5.1.22.0). It has worked for me.

Olddie's solution did not work for me. Still waiting for an update to the driver that actually works. For now the adapter is useless.

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
The Update made my A6210 useless as well. It says it can't locate the USB adapter once I plug it in. It is now worthless. I'm surprised it's been a week and not a single response from Netgear??

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
I tested previous versions of the Netgear driver and was not successful, either, so now I'm beggining to think that recent Windows updates may have broken it. Hopefully Netgear releases a working update soon.

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
Hi All,
My A6210 has been working fine until I updated to the .35 version.
I have been running Windows 10 anniversary fine up until yesterday (12th Nov)
I use my PC regularly so everything bar the .35 would have been current - I updated the drivers to everything bar my USB wifi (which is set to autoupdate) last weekend - The last windows update installed on 9th Nov KB3200970.
I have tried multiple version of the driver and whilst I could get internet (without genie accepting that the Wifi adaptor was connected) it was incredably unstable.
I am currently just using the base wireless AC drivers that come with windows 10 - and so far it appears stable.

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
Sorry but this is going to be very, very long! Possibly you can get this to the APPROPRIATE people to resolve this problem!
2016-10-28 07:17 AM
Okay, I may not be a IT specialist or some High Tech Nerd BUT in my humble opinion the/ this problem HAS to be with the NG software!! I have/ had most of the problems listed here! I'm running the latest and newest Anniversary Update on Win 10! As of 11/15/16 I am 100% current with Windows!
I tried loading from the supplied CD rom. NO GENIE! I could see it go through all the steps to load it, watched it "APPEAR" to open, then disappear! If I do a file explorer I find the NetGear file/ folder under Programs Files(86) and see the installed program, numerous files so I "assume" it loaded the program but couldn't find the device. In it, it shows [RT3070] DeviceID_1=USB\VID_0846&PID_9053
I then went and found/ opened the NetGearInstallLog.txtScrolling through it I keep seeing this in the install log report;
RetrieveHWID(): USB\VID_0846&PID_9050 hardware information is not retrieved.
RetrieveHWID() finished.
Device not found.
CheckDeviceExist() finished
RemoveInfFiles(): started. szParam=USB\VID_0846&PID_9050
Install completed successfully at 10-25-2016 15:00:39.
Now is this telling me in one instance the device is/ should be PID_9050 and is 9053 or vice versa? Are they the same or is the program looking for a 9050 and sees 9053 or vice versa and doesn't complete the install??
Now I DO NOT have a USB 3.0 only 2.0 BUT the package says it should still work! I uninstalled and reinstalled the program from the CD several times to NO avail! I went to NetGears web site and downloaded the most current install for the A6210. NO DIFFERENCE!! No Net Genie!! Again installing it, uninstalling it several times also!! After the botched install and hitting the cancel button, ironically, I noticed the blue light on the A6210 came on and I had internet access!
I then went to Device Manager and under Network Adapters it showed 802.11acWireless LAN card! Now for the strange part?
Under Properties for the card it showed Driver Provider MediaTek, driver date 4/21/15, driver version 5.1.22.0
Where or how did MediaTek get onboard??? Did Win 10 just assign a driver because of the botched install from NetGear??
If I remove the A6210 device and go back to my A6200 device and install it EVERYTHING is there, Net Genie AND IT FINDS THE DEVICE AND INSTALLS THE DRIVERS FOR IT!! Did whomever wrote/ compiled the install program for the A6210 not update it to find a 9053 for the A6210 instead of a 9050 or what??? Why all of sudden, after the Anniversary update, does the install program want to see a different adapter? Hence it worked before the Anniversary update but afterwards it does not!
I'm not sure if this will be posted as a reply to you or the discussion group or if some NetGear moderator will see it and forward it to one of the programers. It's only my HUMBLE opinion that this is a "SOFTWARE" problem NOT the adapter itself! My adapter IS working!! Using the MediaTek drivers I'm getting BLINDING download speeds!!
At this point in time the USB Adapter IS working. I and it appears several others as well DO NOT have Net Genie available to monitor the status of the adapter!!
Adapter 1, program 0, goose egg, nada, zippo!

Ok, I seem to have solved for my machine and wanted to see if it helped others on here with this adapter.
1. Run the file: A6210_v1.0.0.35 and as usual wait for the 'Plug in your adapter' message.
2. When you get the 'Adapter not detected', click Cancel
3. Leave the adapter plugged in, do not remove it and go to Device Manager.
4. Under Network adapters you will see: 802.11ac Wireless LAN Card
5. Double click on this and goto the Driver Tab.
6. Click on 'Update Driver'
7. Now choose 'Browse My computer for Driver Software'
8. Now click, 'Let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer'
9. Choose Netgear A6210 Wifi usb 3.0 adapter and click Next. The driver will be installed
10. Close down device manager.
11. Go to your wifi / internet iceon in the bottom right of your screen. If you are wired, change this to wireless and then connect to your network.
12. The adapter should now be working
13. I then went to here: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic and downloaded the genie software independently of the A6210 software and installed it.
14. It actually worked and now runs ok under Windows 10 with anniversary. Its a pain, I know, but until Netgear sort themsleves out it works, and to be honest the adapter itself is very good and when connected to my virgin Superhub 2 I'm getting 140mbs download. compared to 10 over my very old powerline adapters.
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks

I, too, had gotten my A6210 to work doing what you had done prior to your post via hit or miss. Unfortunately I didn't remember exactly step by step how I had done it. I also did not wish to have a useless piece of hardware! Your step by step directions ARE WHAT NETGEAR SHOULD HAVE POSTED on their driver page and also in ANY forum relating to this problem but as of yet I HAVE NOT seen such a post!
If you read more towards the top I posted (10/ 28/16) what I thought would have been the clue for Netgear to remedy this whole problem.
I'm not by any stretch of the imagination a programer/ IT guru/ computer nerd BUT my take on this is that the whole problem is a Netgear program problem. PERIOD! Win 10, including the Anniversary edition and subsequent updates are NOT the problem as Win 10 DOES recognize the adapter!!
Repeat WIN 10 RECOGNIZES THE ADAPTER!
It's, IMHO, the Netgear Program that is at FAULT! In fact it "APPEARS" they think the problem is solved,WHICH IT IS "NOT "unless one follows koidave's GREAT advice!! Your advice will get people up and running again BUT why should we the purchasers have to figure out their programs PROBLEM!
To me it's a SIMPLE fix. If you check out my earlier post, 10/28/16, it seems THEIR program is looking for a USB\VID_0846&PID_9050 and the device is reporting back DeviceID_1=USB\VID_0846&PID_9053. Since it (program) CAN NOT find the device (9050) installation is STOPPED! I almost typed that I really miss the Genie program but before I did, I went back and REREAD your post, did EXACTLY what you said step by step and "viola" Genie is back and adapter STILL works!!
GREAT JOB is an understatement!!
Exactly how long would it take for a programer from Netgear to open up the file on the download page and either change ALL references of 9050 to 9053 OR make it check for either/ both 9050 or 9053 and install the CORRECT program???
To anyone having problems with the A6210 installation. Follow koidave's post to the letter and you should be up and running in "no time WITH NETGEAR genie to boot"!!
"AWESOME"!
I do humbly apologize for this "lenghtly" post and have tried to keep it appropriate about this. Koidave and myself have been receiving requests for help from others on the forum(s) with the same problem which neither of us mind helping them with but this problem has been ongoing for a while! Can/ could you please direct this to someone/ anyone who can rectify this problem once and for all??

Try this BEFORE taking it back! This has worked for others and myself, so this is to say it is verified! This is from someone who for lack of better words has been collaborating with me to help people such as yourself! "DO THIS STEP BY STEP IN ORDER"!! In all but a very few cases it's worked!!

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
Evidently Netgear still hasn't resolved the problem 100% as of yet!! I thought by now they would have pushed a "Update Now" sort of update? This is a PR nightmare!!
Not to sound snotty, but what update?? Did you yourself search for an update or did Genie tell you there was an update?? My problem started with an brand new/ out of box experience. Did you follow ALL the instructions. To properly install adapter software, please remove drivers that were previously installed. Netgear reccommends this!!
To uninstall, go to Start > Programs > NETGEAR A6210 > Uninstall NETGEAR A6210.
You're the 1st person in about a month that's had a problem. Netgear sent me a trial version that appears(?) to be what is available online! That worked "FLAWLESSLY"!
If all else fails and you did or will uninstall "ALL" instances of A6210 BEFORE reinstalling it and still encounter problems, go to the post directly above. I'll post it so that when you read my reply it's right there! I KNOW it works as both koidave and myself have verified it. We BOTH had the same problem as you and his post WORKS!! In all but a very, very few "it has worked"!!

Re: A6210 WiFi Adapter not working
So the KOIDAVE thing above actually works -- but I am not sure you need to do ALL the steps. I think the key thing is this download:
13. I then went to here: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic and downloaded the genie software independently of the A6210 software and installed it.
You have to scroll to the bottom of the page where it says "DOWNLOAD PC" and download this. This is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PIECE OF SOFTWARE from the usual A6210 download. I am betting my bottom dollar on that is why this all works now. It is a much more complete network analysis and all that -- but the main thing is it actually RUNS on Windows 10 and you can use it to connect to your 5G network via it.
Thanks to all for the research here -- I have been frustrated for 2 weeks since the V.35 update and now it is solved!
