GS116 Warranty

I bought thie GS116 switch back in June 2006. It has died. I thought:
- This product is backed by a NETGEAR ProSAFE® Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty.
when I try to get it replaced, it says its out of warranty.

Welcome to our community!
As far as I know, the lifetime hardware warranty was implemented last May 2007. Devices bought before the said date will be out of warranty unless it is stated on the proof of purchase or sales invoice from an authorized reseller that it was covered.
