RMA email never arrived

Got an RMA today for a failed GS105 that is two years old. Please post or e-mail me the return address and instructions. I also need to know if the power supply goes back with it or I keep that?

Not sure who insists on not understanding here. It's not my concept, so please blame the sun eruption....

Happy to pick up your car engine example. If you buy a replacement engine (not from the salvage yard) for your car, you get a replacement engine without any accessory - no alternator/generator, no A/C compressor, no ignition magnets (yeah I'm old enough, still standard on aircraft engines), no exhaust gas collector, no airbox, no ignition cables, no fuel pump, no hydraulic pump, .... (unless negotiated otherwise) - lots of items required to operate the engine.

You send just the switch back. If you want to insist stating it's just the power supply which is broken (lucky yours it isn't) and you just need the power supply, or the situation is difficult (unclear if switch or power supply) it has to be explained and discussed with Netgear's support. .

This is the public support forum where members of the public help out.

You'd want to contact official support for that info.

Re: RMA email never arrived

Accessories like power supplies, cables, rack mounts, are not to be returned. Unless I'm wrong, external power supplies aren't covered by the lifetime warranty anyway.

Negear mods can often help resolving possible broken email loops, but it will take time.

nope. I've read each one several times. AND the Netgear policy does not mention power supplies. Technically it is not an accessory. It is a required part of the device to work.  It would be like saying a car engine is an accessory to your car.

Have received the RMA information required in the meantime?

Netgear Support Knowledge Base: Frequently Asked Questions about the ProSAFE® Limited Lifetime Warra...

Q: Are fans and power supplies covered?

A: Yes, fans and internal power supplies are covered under the lifetime hardware warranty. External power supplies will continue with their specified warranties.

This reads to me like the external power supplies are covered by the market specific warranty terms, like one year in the US, or two years in Europe - but excluded from the lmited lifetime warranty.

Re: RMA email never arrived

For the last time.  If Netgear is sending just the GS105 then I shall return just the GS105. However if they are sending a new GS105 in a retail box then it will normally have the power supply in the box too so I will also return the power supply. Their link says to keep accessories. A power supply is not an accessory. If you can't understand such a simple concept I have no other way of stating it.  If I get the replacement first then I will know what they sent/are sending. But if they are waiting on me to send mine back first then I stiil need to know what will be in the package they will be sending to know what to send back.  I am hoping they are sending the replacement first which will make it easy to know what to send back. There is nothing wrong with this power supply.

Re: RMA email never arrived

@sgkent1,

What RMA option did you choose?  If ever you opt the Standard Swap Exchange RMA option, you will need to return first the faulty unit (which is the GS105 switch ONLY) to the NETGEAR Return Address.  Be reminded that you will be the one to pay for the shipping of the faulty unit. As soon as NETGEAR has received the faulty unit, the replacement GS105 (no power supply included) will be automatically shipped unto your specified shipping address.

Since the power supply is still working fine, there is no need to return it with the faulty unit.  Once you receive the replacement GS105, test it right away.

Re: RMA email never arrived

So let me share an update for those of  you who have the same question as I did.

Netgear sent:

A new sealed retail box GS105V.  In the box are instructions and a new power supply. Also included was a return label to NetGear although FedEx trashed the envelope badly, and partially destroyed the label so I don't know whether it will work or not.
