6.5.0-T338 load question

I recently upgraded my Pro Pioneer to the latest 6.5 beta, and I have notice the system idles at a load of 1.

This is odd for two reasons, one is that under 4.2.x (and 6.4.2 on my ultra 4) the load has always negligible, and two, the load isn't attributable to any process running.

Now I have upgraded the CPU to a Q6600 so that maybe an issue, but I'm wondering if this is normal. My cpu has been running hotter than it did under 4.2, but I think that is because the fans are running much cooler than they did so I'm assumitg it would run cooler if I set the fan speed to cool.

I don't think I can do more troubleshooting without installing something like perf, but I don't want to push installing too much new software on the box. I'm assuming this is like the old readynas systems where you are generally OK install software as long as you don't overwrite the readynas specific packages.

Any insight would be appreciated, and great work on OS6 support on Legacy. The end result is very impressive!

Re: 6.5.0-T338 load question

It's an issue with the button driver, specific to ReadyNAS Pro.  The kernel button worker is constantly in an uninterruptible sleep, which by definition raises the load average by 1 (even though it's not actually doing anything).  I'll try to get it fixed.

What about on 6.5.0-RC1?

Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?

Thanks mgdm, I wasn't aware of RC-1, but I still have the same issue. I sent my logs in hopefully we can make sense of it.

Thanks again,

Thanks for looking into it Skywalker!

I have been a fan since I got my (still working) NV+, and its great to see there are still Jedi plying their trade for those of us old timers.

Re: 6.5.0-T338 load question

Hi there. Where do I find the download for OS 6.5.0 (RC2?) for Legacy?

I'm currently running OS 6.4.0 on my legacy Prop Pioneer Edition, and wpould like to be able to migrate to the Netgear Single Sign-On solution with OS 6.5.0.

Thanks !
