After pressing the Factory default in Raidar the ReadyNAS Duo V2 is giving Device is Offline

Yesterday I pressed the Factory default button in Raidar. The result is now, 15 hours later, the LED's and the the display are working properly but when I try to get access via Raidar the message comes: Device is offline, please wait. I can shutdown the ReadyNAS with the button on the device but when I booth the device with paperclip on the reset button and the powerbutton, I cannot change the booth menu from Normal. Does anyone have an idea if the reset to factory default takes days? The HD I use are 4 x 2TB and the Firmware 5.3.11.

Factory default worked perfect after I renewed 1 HD that created a hick-up during factory default. Now everything works fine again.

Thanks for the help

Are you following this procecdure?: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20898/~/readynas-%26-readydata%3A-boot-menu

After releasing the paperclip, you press the backup button to go through the different options then press the reset button once more to confirm your choice.

If you still can't access the boot menu can you access the boot menu if you remove your disks?

Thanks mdgm for trying to help.

Yes I followed the procedure correct. Push the Power Button with Paperclip on the reset button on the back. This gives in the screen Boot Menu. Then with still the paperclip pushed on the reset button I push the backup button 1 time the display shows: Boot Menu Normal. I push the backup button again but now the display stays the same.

When I do the procedure again without the presence of the 4 HD the outcome is the same.

Release the reset button when you are pressing/using the backup button to scroll options, once you get to the option you want press the reset button then.

As mdgm has already stated above.

Re: After pressing the Factory default in Raidar the ReadyNAS Duo V2 is giving Device is Offline

thank bedlam1 for helping me.

Your advice worked well. I will make note of this releasing the reset button when the backup button is pushed. So that next time this will not become an issue again.

I want to perform a Factory default because in windows explorer I see more directories on the ReadyNAS as there are shares on it. So in ReadyNAS I have 6 Shares but in explorer I see 9. Therefor I think it would be a good idea to start fresh.

Thanks again.

Yes I have a back-up and the originals on seprate HD. So I don't see a problem.

After selecting Factory Default in Boot Menu the ReadyNAS give that disc 2 is a Bad disc. This is new to me and I am now checking this disc. (Seagate ST2000DL003 2TB)

Depending on which disk firmware is on those disks they may not be suitable for RAID use. Older ST2000DL003 disks have buggy disk firmware on them.

I don't know what is going on now but they were working good for several years.

Disks can and do fail. There might have been some warnings in emails (if email alerts were configured) and/or in the status log in the web admin UI. Though sometimes disks fail without any warning.
