Antivirus warnings #25358571
Hello all, last night something changed on my system. I received more than 2 dozen virus warnings. This occurred just after new Virus Definitions was downloaded. The files noted in the warnings are files that are over 10 years old, most are unused Excel practice files from training classes I used to lead. A few others are files from other archived files that are 5 years old, again from archival files that are never used or opened.
In looking back through the NAS log, many of these files have been flagged before. I should be more responsible and read about the device software, but I assumed (incorrectly) that the virus scan I enabled was actually acting on files it found rather than just alerting I learned after a painful chat with tech support that there is an App AntiVirus Plus that allows you to set options for what happens when an infected file is discovered. I downloaded that and now have questions the chat person seemed lost about (in my experience, not unusual for the first level support)
I have three questions ...
The first question, when I asked what the system did with the positive findings, the agent indicated that I would get a choice to Quarantine Delete or Ignore. I asked her where and she eventually said the AV Plus app. Which I did not know I needed an app to supplement the existing firmware. Fine. I installed AV+. It has settings for what should automatically happen on the next scan, but nowhere am I presented with a choice of actions for the existing flagged files. So do I need to manually locate them and delete them? or is there an interface I am missing we can process the existing positive findings.
My Second, the agent said to run a live scan, as if there were an option to manually launch a scan so I can act on the existing files. There is a Live Scan tab, but that is in reference to the scheduled scan. The agent got very confused at that point and I gave up. So where do I launch a manual scan so that I can have the manual scan rediscover the 24 files previously found and take the action i set on the first tab.
Third question, The log in the AV+ indicated that it had pulled the virus entries from the NAS log. However, they all appear a month off. The NAS log says to days date, 29 June, the log in the AV+ app shows 29 May for all the new entries???

The only actions on the AV+ are Delete, Report&block and Disinfect.
I believe the AV+ does not have an option for any action you want to do to the infected files that already got in before installing the app.
You may want scan the volume using AV+ set an action for them but I think you can only use Delete and Disinfect for the existing files.
