Backup Config in FrontView

I have had 2 ReadyNAS 3100s do the same thing. Out of the box and going to System > Config Back > Backup and select Everything will work fine. After I joined the unit to my domain (2003) and set permissions it just sits there when you either select Everything or when Data Volumes is included. It works fine when Data Volumes is not selected. Anyone have a clue? Support wants me to reinstall the OS. This unit is a new replacement that I just got up and running. Like I said my other 3100 did the same thing. I do don't think an OS reinstall is going to fix it. I think support is just guessing or that is their answer for everything.
Firmware 4.2.23 problem existed on 4.2.21 as well.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

I have no opinion on whether an OS reinstall will fit it.

I am wondering why you care though - the 50 MB limit in the data volume config backup isn't large enough to be useful. Personally I never select it anyway.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

Yes but I'm more interested in getting the folder structure backed so in the case of a failure, I restore the config which should bring in all the shares and then restore from backup.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

I am running 4.2.24 on my Pro 6.

Choosing "everything" takes a while, but does not hang. The downloaded zip contains /etc and /tmp folders, but no /c

Total size of the zip is 210 KB.

Choosing only "data", gives me a zip of 204 bytes, which only contains config_restore_info (has the nas name and the date, nothing else).

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

How long does it take when you select everything? Maybe I'm just not patient enough.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

80 seconds from the time I clicked on the download button, until the time the pop-up window appeared.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

I waited 10 minutes and nothing happens. The waiting for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx disappears after 4 minutes.

Re: Backup Config in FrontView

When you download config and log files, they are first stored in a zip file on the OS partition. If you have ssh enabled, try checking the fullness of the OS partition.

If you don't have ssh enabled (and don't want to) then maybe try deleting your log files (both backup logs and system logs), and try again.
